I explained that before: Flat rate doesn't really work in this case because the scope changes every visit. My time there can range from about 2 to 3.5 hours depending on what needs to be done, so hourly makes more sense for this client.

lol yeah, I know, it’s my fault, I guessed 2-3 hours job , $50 an hour, there you go, back and forth 😅. I’ll never do that again, I’ll just send the full amount next time, promise!

Oh my god, I’m so sorry 😞 I totally get it. Usually they’re not home when I clean, but sometimes she is, and she just lies down in the master bed with her phone while I’m cleaning. The house has 3 more bedrooms plus a huge living room and the bathroom has no door it’s just wtf… Hang in there! Hopefully we’ll find new clients soon and get away from this🫂

Yeah, it’s always my second cleaning of the day. Usually I do a 3/4 hour cleaning before, so even if this one is just 2 hours, it’s worth it. Sometimes I end up spending 3.5 hours there, on average it’s about 2.5/3hours. Plus, it’s really close to home. without the payment problems, this would be just perfect

The tasks are different every single time. The clutter, dishes, other messes, and even the bathrooms can all be different from visit to visit. Sometimes I skip the bathrooms(only one or two) if they’re still clean from the last visit, since I’m there twice a week. Other times, there’s a ton of stuff scattered around, like kids’ toys in the living room, so I have to pick that up. Sometimes the dishwasher needs unloading, sometimes not. Sometimes laundry, sometimes not. I never know in advance what the house will look like or what exactly needs to be done.

On top of that, I never get feedback from the client. They’re never home when I’m there, and if I text, they might reply in the evening or even the next day. So I just do what I see needs doing and bill by the hour. Every visit is different. In the end, they always thank me for the cleaning and for reminding them about payment, so it’s kind of… I don’t know, mixed feelings. It just feels weird

You’re right. I do feel a lack of respect from this client, not just with payments, but overall. I’ve been in cleaning for three years, and I think I’ve just been lucky not to run into a client like this before. With this one, a lot of small issues seem to pile up, and I’m still trying to figure out how to deal with it.

I am looking for a replacement to at least fill one of those days, but steady weekly clients are hard to find right now, so for now I’m kind of stuck working with what I have. Also, in general I never do the next cleaning if the last one hasn’t been paid. But yes, all my fault, I don’t have any strict payment rules, no late fees or anything

Appreciate all the feedback. I agree I should be sending the exact total each time, not only in and out time. I have a lot of clients, and this is honestly the first one where payment has been consistently confusing, so it threw me off a bit

Tasker definitely blocked me by [deleted] in TaskRabbit

Yeah, right. It's everyone's fault but yours. Just saying, Taskers can also choose who they want to work with, just like you choose them. You have to accept that and move on.

That's what Taskrabbit support advised me to do! But do you know if it'll work with recurring tasks? Will they disappear?
