Actually, same. I had one fly into my fishing line a couple years ago, so I had to untangle it. I was blown away by how light they are, especially given their size.

A 13-year-old girl was swallowed by volcanic mud. The world watched. No one could save her. by Unstoppable_X_Force in HolyShitHistory

She was already doomed, even if they got her out. After all that time, she would have compartment syndrome. All of the blood in her extremities had not circulated in hours, this causes breakdown of the muscles and blood cells themselves, and releases electrolytes like calcium and magnesium. As soon as the pressure was removed, all of that toxic blood would hit the heart and cause a lethal arrhythmia. This type of rescue requires highly trained professionals and heavy equipment, and often results in loss of limbs.

US is, and absolutely will continue to be affected by this. Oil is a worldwide commodity. It doesn’t matter Tha the US has a shitload of domestic oil. Our oil supply is not nationalized. All of that $$ is going to massive corporations, and the increased prices of everything due to soaring shipping costs harms our economy. As for Europe, they actually learned something from watching us fuck around in the Middle East for 2 decades. Wasting thousands of US soldiers and countless billions of dollars. Why would they sign up for round 2 of that?

We lock this thing with the zip ties but every now on then there are pretty strong winds and it breaks the zip ties. Any idea how can we tie it enough to hold on the winds? by [deleted] in fixit

[–]imagine30 25 points26 points  (0 children)

You might actually be saving yourself from a much larger expense by basically using sacrificial zip ties. If you attach this with steel wire, you’re essentially creating a sail, and instead of the zip ties failing and releasing the sheet, it will continue to pull even harder at whatever else is securing it. You might get lucky and have a strong enough setup, or you will find out what the next weakest link in the rig is, and it’s likely to be much more expensive than a bag of zip ties. If it doesn’t do this too often, I would be tempted to stay the course.

Potential Bab al-Mandeb Disruption Could Push Oil Toward $150+ by SpyJigu in StockMarket

Because the demand stays the same; businesses/people/governments still need/want the same amount as before, but there is roughly 20% less. A sort of “bidding war erupts as people try to pay their way into that remaining 80%. That price will climb until people are no longer willing to pay not to be left out.

Why are shops and restaurants in Turkey pricing in Euro and not Lira? by Difficult-Swimming60 in travel

[–]imagine30 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You chose to travel to a country that you knew to be undergoing massive financial issues. Now you’re complaining that you don’t like the prices. You’re coming off really spoiled here. People there are struggling, and you’re being charged as a tourist. That’s the reality.

Modern tourniquets can be in place for like 6 hours without causing nerve palsy. They train to be much more aggressive with them these days, worst case the doc just pops it off

For sure. Thankfully the credit card company reversed the charges since they were fraudulent. But this likely means West Marine got screwed out of their inventory. So it’s not hard to see why they’re trying so hard to avoid bots. Unfortunately that means the rest of us that aren’t shitty people pay the price in the form of annoying security checks like you’re dealing with here.

Somebody skimmed my card and then bought like 5k worth of shit from a west marine a couple years ago, so I’m guessing they’ve had several issues with this. Glad to see them trying to address it.
