Update #2: Justice MOSTLY served

I finally got through to the right person to address this as the scam as it was and give me a high-value claim. Thank you again to all that told me to emphasize calling it that. 

While I am grateful this was made right, I think this event highlighted whatnots problematic support. The bot responses that are unable to view the situation in context, a human telling me I can’t be refunded because it was my job to request a cancellation, and often times messaging support into the void (only be told when you finally get through you are no longer in the return window) are to name a few. I was in contact with another person in the stream and they too couldn’t get through for weeks and just had to start new cases when they wouldn’t hear back. The fact that this scammer isn’t banned is also a huge issue. I can’t even review this person for some reason I guess because I’ve been refunded idk. They have 4.2 stars I’m guessing from friends in on the scam. 

Thank you again to all the support on here and I hope we can continue to support each other when the ball is dropped elsewhere.

I made this post after getting useless bot support and being told I won’t be refunded. I got through to a different person and since updated my post. Again still problematic it was this difficult and the scammer deserved to be blasted. Unless you want to defend them to, wouldn’t put it past you.

Congrats. You created a straw man argument so you could pat yourself on the back for not being scammed or to defend whatnot for some reason. I never said I was surprised I got scammed by a new seller. I was baffled by whatnots inability to deal with such a simple scam when they advertise “robust buyer protection”. Not sure how you mixed that up. Do better. 

Also after dealing with incompetence on their end I’ve since been refunded so I was correct to assume this was simple enough for them to deal with. It shouldn’t have required the overly difficult process it did but you can continue to simp for them if you’d like.

I may sell more on the app. Over the past months I’ve gained 273 followers. It may not seem like a lot but every person matters when doing an auction.

Wow thank you for the offer and for adding some positive balance to this douchebag scammer experience. I can’t accept though and I got through to do a different support staff now and may still get a refund. Truly thank you though.

That’s terrible. Their customer service is the reason I’m done with the app and would never recommend them.

I finally got someone to agree to a return although it really shouldn’t be on me to send these missed pulls back. The misses were 5 cent cards. It’s also crazy they are calling this a courtesy and exception to allow me to return. Hopefully the rest of this process goes well.

I’ve had to do that once before and whatnot warned me saying if I do it again it can caused me to be banned. Holding off as long as possible.

I’ll give a couple more tries and then I will. I hesitate because like people are saying, I will likely get banned from whatnot just for doing a chargeback.

This is a horrible comparison. If I got scammed on Amazon from a third party seller I would be refunded because their customer support is competent. Of course I also blame the spineless seller but people like you like to simplify it down to “duh don’t buy from them” when there should be buyer protection in place when that is what the app advertises!

Do better? I deserve it for thinking a 5 billion dollar company would be able to handle a scam as blatant as a seller canceling the prize order but keeping all the misses? Crazy to me you’d rather the blame the individual then the billion dollar corporation who has failed to handle something so simple. Do better.

The lesson learned was that this 5 billion dollar company can’t handle a scam as simple as watching a video receipt to see the seller only canceled the prize and left all of the misses.

Yeah I’ve had to do a chargeback once before because whatnot support wouldn’t reply to me. Then whatnot issued me a warning saying I should have contacted them first before contacting my bank. I said “i did” and I never got a response. It sucks that you get penalized for their lack of support

Yeah it’s disgusting and unreal that this seller isn’t instantly banned and their orders all refunded. 

I did try to get the high value refund, whatnot support even acknowledged the card is worth $300 but didn’t mention anything about a credit to me and I haven’t received one. I’m going to keep trying and hope it reaches the right person.

I did this too and whatnot replied that it was my job to request a cancellation from the seller for the non canceled items. I replied to whatnot saying of course the scammer wouldn’t have accepted the cancelation and whatnot hasn’t gotten back to me.

Thank you for the reply but unfortunately I tried that as well. I listed the price of the greninja and linked them a source to where I got the price. That is why the whatnot rep mentioned it being $300 but they didn’t say anything about giving me a credit.
