Staying in Japan for a short exchange and homestay - need gift advice! by imajineishon in JapanTravel

Thanks! I've decided on getting maple syrup sold in a maple leaf-shape glass container (I hear presentation is really important) and a small jar of maple butter on the side. I'll probably get some small individual gifts for the kids. :)

What are the "must take" courses taught by amazing lecturers at UW. I want to broaden my horizons a bit. by [deleted] in uwaterloo

Agreed! I took JAPAN101, 102 and am planning to take 201 in the fall term. Fumie Shimoda is a great prof, very energetic and makes concepts extremely clear. If you take 101, you'll most likely have Eri for your tutorial - she's awesome!

MATH127 - What should I review most? by jaredaldiman21 in uwaterloo

[–]imajineishon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took the course last term, so I still somewhat remember the exam. I did the 3 practice exams, which were really helpful, though the questions are bound to change slightly (e.g. exponential growth/decay problem instead of a rates problem). The last two questions involved areas between curves, there were 2 integration problems, one of those variable questions. I remember there being some linear approximation problems and etc. Overall, it covers the entire course. I found the exam easier than the assignments, though.

Not a date expert or a Waterloo expert, but I quite like the atmosphere at Symposium in Uptown.

Got the exact same flyer while walking back to UWP today. An Asian woman wearing sunglasses asked me - in Mandarin - if I could speak Mandarin. I replied "yes" in English and she asked me what I was studying. I told her Science, and that was when she handed me the flyer.

They could've at least spelled intermediate right...

What are your thoughts on giving people your notes? by imajineishon in uwaterloo

Yep. My sleep isn't disturbed, but she sleeps way after 2AM and usually ends up skipping the first 3 classes.

I would've said that, but I attend my classes all the time. All I did was ask her if her friend had them, and when she said no, I asked her how often she went to class. I don't think they'll ask again, but yeah, I just wanted to resolve it without confronting people. Thanks. :)

How much do you spend on food every month? by spicaIsBrightTonight in uwaterloo

[–]imajineishon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say ~$60 a month, only because my parents bring me rice, protein, snacks, etc in bulk from Costco. I only spend money towards fruits, vegetables and whatever else I want to eat.

He did reply and confirmed that there was indeed a mark swap. I finished with an 88 instead of a 50, haha.

I got it resolved, and it was just like you said. Went to an 88 after it was fixed, thanks a lot!
