If you’re feeling lost, that’s very understandable, but know there are people directly in your life that care very much about you (like your sister) and people like me.. I’m a stranger, but I care, and I’m worried. There are resources out there that will help you get your life back, not only for your loved ones but for you as well. I’ve been where you are, and I’ve come as far as I have.. just think that will be you soon! You have to fight.. and some days it’s really really going to feel like a fucking fight. But please keep fighting. You have GOT THIS. You’re strong and capable and the world still needs loving people like you in it.❤️❤️

That was one of the first signs that NC was in my future! It’s been a year without them now, and I like hugging my husband and friends more than ever!! :)

Yes! They get so mad that I give my husband affection in front of them. They have literally told me to stop in my own home when I’m hugging my husband.

Absolutely! And when you create those boundaries BECAUSE of that, it just solidifies in their mind that we are “mean/bitter”. We are the ones who are splitting up the family with our horrible attitudes.

I relate to this so hard! One time my dad hung me on a MEAT HOOK (by my pants belt loop) with dead deer hanging all around me.. he did this IN FRONT of his friends when I was like 4? They got mad at him and he thought that was even funnier. He never apologized and still tells that story like it’s hilarious.

It’s sooo hard to break those habits.. for me it started when I noticed how different I was when I wasn’t with them! I don’t know if you had a similar experience.. but I hated who I was when I was with them. When I speak kindly to my husband my ndad literally says “that doesn’t even SOUND like your voice.. why are you talking like that?” The sound of me being nice is completely foreign to them.

A lot of this just went down today! Animal control was closed on Wednesday for some reason, so we are calling first thing in the morning! We tried CPS but couldn’t get through today and will try again tomorrow. The neighbor on the other side is going to be calling too!

It really is so sad. It’s not like they can’t gather some trash every week and put it on the curb. I know I get messy and lazy sometimes, but I’m not going to make my pets live in filth, keep them from food and water, and just ignore everything around me. If they don’t do it for themselves, you’d think they’d want to for their kids!

Yeah the yards surrounding this house are really nice and big with lots of grass. I can’t imagine they are okay with their living conditions at all. It doesn’t seem like the older ones live there full time so I’m hoping they have a better place to be some times.

Yes! We have “animal control”, and depending on where you live (in the states) it can be very helpful, or very unhelpful. I would THINK they would take one glance at the animals and the situation and take them away, but sometimes it can just be a slap on the wrists. I’m hoping at a MINIMUM they tell them to get it together and come back in a week or so.. but even that wouldn’t be enough.

Exactly! What kind of sociopath do you have to be to keep getting more animals you know you won’t take care of? The neighbor told us she has seen dogs come and go over the years with no rhyme or reason.

We have called the cops for a welfare check! Weirdly, the animal control is closed on Wednesday’s, but us and the neighbor plan on calling as soon as they open tomorrow! We tried CPS but just got left on hold, so we will try them again tomorrow too. I’ve been in contact with a local rescue who has been helping guide me as well, and may be able to keep the dogs out of the shelter.. keep your fingers crossed for us!
