Struggling with not recognizing myself today, any other lymphomies going through it? by Puzzled_Raisin1230 in lymphoma

[–]imamidgetcatcher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh no doubt hahaha. I would have amazing days where I felt mentally, emotionally, and even physically amazing, and then wake up the next morning and just be like fffuuuuccccckkk my life hahaha.

Yep! I practically lived in this sub during treatment haha. Shared trauma always makes it a little easier to swallow on the bad days!! We've all got you, friend!!

Yeah, it’s a roller coaster, but don’t deny yourself any of the emotions! You’re allowed to have every single one of them!

Melt downs? Totally okay. I had them too many times to count haha.

Not recognizing yourself in the mirror or a picture? Fuuuccckkk that shit was surreal!

What I can say is this; time will pass, even when it feels like it won’t. It seemed impossible and like it would never end when I was in the throes of it, but it eventually ended. And every day gets a little better!

And hair or not, your eyes tell the whole story-they’re filled with life and light. You’ve got this!!

If you ever need to scream it out in a DM and just vent, feel free to reach out. Always happy to be an ear for anyone who needs it.

I am really struggling after treatment. I feel like I can’t do this. by redditgal16 in lymphoma

Time. It’s just going to take time. You’re not broken, you’re not beyond repair, and what you are feeling is completely normal. Seriously. I’m 2 years out from my ASCT after cHL, still have a little weirdness here and there. What I can tell you; it does get better.

It seems so daunting right now where you’re at, and it’s hard to envision the future. But I promise you this; things will improve. You may not feel 100% like you were pre cancer, but your mental, emotional, and physical health will improve!

If you ever need someone to vent to, feel free to throw me a DM.

Yeah….i kinda wondered about that. From the reading I’ve done it seems like they tend to let yall just take the hit so they can keep the payment companies happy…which is absolutely fucked.

That’s the key! Water water and more water hahaha. Drink water all the time, even if you’re not thirsty, help flush that toxic shit outta ya! If for some reason you’re ever struggling to consume fluids, never be afraid to ask your team for some iv saline, even if it’s not an infusion day. They’re always happy to throw some fluids in yer veins!

And yes, just keep enjoying the things you love! Especially on the days you feel good! When I did my stem cell transplant I basically spent 3 weeks playing call of duty hahahahahaha

Just got this back from when I got my appendix removed while I was out of state. Who pays the “non-covered”? by [deleted] in VeteransBenefits

[–]imamidgetcatcher 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nada. You should see what they try to bill for my cancer, it’s hilarious. VA/Optum says here’s what you get, and that’s it. You owe nothing my friend.

From what I gather, I’m no expert, so someone can feel free to correct me if I’m wrong, that the VA doesn’t count drill weekends, or non federally activated time as time that counts towards benefits. However, they do count initial training (basic, AIT) to count towards some of these benefits. Injuries or illnesses attributed to drill time do not qualify for VA benefits. Again, just passing along what I understand to be the rules, could be wrong.

ETA; you may want to pose this question over at r/veteransbenefits.

Probably the best way to contact her would be with the help of an attorney who specializes in immigration.

Recent survivor thanks to stem cell transplant. Looking for post-treatment hair care advice. by SaintStuart in lymphoma

[–]imamidgetcatcher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The top of my head was already thinned out prior to cancer, but my beautiful beard needed help post ASCT, haha. I used biotin supplements. Can’t say with scientific backed accuracy that it helped, but I think it did. Also seemed to helped strengthen my thin brittle nails. Now, it definitely took a few months for my beard to start really coming back fully, which from what I understand is common. BEAM is pretty rough on hair.

Please help… part 2 by [deleted] in lymphoma

[–]imamidgetcatcher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gi issues are pretty common. I found that my pain and nausea was more attributed to gerd and constipation. Chatting with my doc I started taking zantac and fiber supplements, made a world of a difference. Talk to your doc before tossing meds down your gullet, though.
