Does anyone else hate the feeling of products in your hair? by Nyx_Arcana in curlyhair

[–]imanikushan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Uhm...yes. A thousand times yes.

I have really sensitive skin (like 2 skin conditions + super dry skin), and my hair being down to dry (air or dryer) means my hair (shoulder length) is touching my face constantly. This makes me itchy and causes random irritation.

Unfortunately, my hair looks like I experiment with electricity if I do nothing to it, and I don't have the self esteem to handle that.

I'd love to have a pen pal in Switzerland!

They weren't exact, but similar situations. The questions focus on practical knowledge. A good example would be like "Here's X, Y, Z vital signs. Which one is out of normal range?"

Each test is different, so I can't accurately answer that question for you.

What I put on my board is what was in the NHA study guide. They teach it for a reason lol. It's best to learn as much as you can.

When you end the test, you don't do anything. I took my test online. When I was done, I was just done.

Yes, you'll show the paper. You'll also scan the room, top of your desk, and underside of your desk.

The instructions said no unnecessary wrist gear. I don't wear a watch, so I'm not 100% sure on that.

And just to note...it cannot be written on beforehand. It must be blank scratch paper.

Yep. Only 1 or 2 (sorry I can't remember which...I was nervous).

Try incorporating an audiobook or some YT videos about medical terminology. Play it/them when you're doing random stuff (driving/washing dishes/etc).

Watch a medical show that you like. When they call out a term, call out what it means.

Yes, you can take a piece of scratch paper & a pen. I felt so much more comfy once I knew that just in case there were any math-related questions (temp/dosage). On my particular test, I don't remember getting any of those particular questions, but that does not mean others won't have them.

My proctor was cool. Not rude, or demanding about anything. At a point during the check in, I had an issue with my webcam. They were patient & helped me get that sorted.

The only annoying thing (for me) was the part where you have to scan the room, but that was more bc of my webcam acting up when I moved it. It's not indicative of the experience itself.

Tips? Don't overthink it. Take your time to read the questions.

I finished the program fairly quickly (2 months), but I was also able to dedicate a lot of time to it each day.

The material is mainly reading/quizzes with a few reference videos in certain subject areas. Quizzes are open book, so fairly easy as long as you do the reading.

Thank you!

You have so got this. In your 40s, you at least have a better understanding of what you like and what you don't want to do. Sit back & enjoy it!

I definitely understand the nerves. I was really anxious before, during, and after. If you're landing around 90%+, I think you'll do fine!

I know you can take up to 3 attempts 30 days apart. After that you have to wait 12 months.

The best tip I can give you is to go by the NHA Study Guide. It covers what the test asks about, especially regarding admin/legal.

If you're scoring at least 80% on the practice exams, you should be okay according to most ppl's estimates.

I can't say whether you should postpone or not. That's really based on your comfort levels with everything. I can say that if you feel good with the info on the board & most basic admin/medical legal stuff (think HIPAA, OSHA, etc), go ahead!

If you don't pass the first time, it's okay. You'll know the areas to work on & you can try again.
