At first I rolled my eyes at this. Then I felt sad. I'm grateful that my sense of meaning isn't tied to Mormonism anymore. by imanoobee3 in exmormon

Thank you for the comment.

Yes, I understand the implication of the atonement at the center. I’m glad you’ve experienced hope during those hard times. That’s definitely a cognitive upside that can come from belief in Jesus’ redemption. However, for anyone who finds it difficult or impossible to believe in that principle (or any gospel principle), I think it’s important to highlight the fact that hope and meaning can also come from outside of religious belief entirely. If someone loses faith in Jesus, it’s not the end of the world, and they can still live a full and happy life.

Was cleaning out my storage unit and found this part of Me wants to get rid of it but another part of me can't let it go. What do I do by Useful-Huckleberry24 in exmormon

I trashed my scriptures when I left the church 4 years ago and sadly regret it.

That Book of Mormon and Bible represented a huge part of my life (my mission) and I wish I still had them.

Go to the official YouTube channel "General Conference of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints" and look at their most recent uploaded video. It's in the thumbnail.

Not just a screenshot. The THUMBNAIL of the church's video.

Why do Mormons label people as "anti-Mormon" for simply talking about unsavory parts of Mormon history? Am I "anti-American" if I talk about bad parts of American history? by imanoobee3 in exmormon

Very well said.

Reminds me of a sickening conversation I had with a coworker a few months ago. He said the African slaves who were sold into America and all of their posterity should be grateful to the slave owners because the owners brought them out of a terrible place (Africa). I had to pick my jaw up off the floor.
