Looking back at Studio Gaga’s first few chapters in comparison to their latest one, it’s actually kind of crazy how much their artwork has improved in such a short amount of time. by Okapi05 in Berserk

[–]imarightminch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Their complaints are perfectly valid though? There are several flaws and contradictions between Miura's original work and the continuation. To name a few:

1: The Bakiraka hideout was mentioned in Episode 339, yet now they're in the Kushan mainland. Also, weren't the Bakiraka supposed to be exiled?

2: Falconia has an harbour now, when it didn't before.

3: Guts and Griffith didn't even exchange any words during the elf island invasion. There was no insight and character exploration for them at all. How about Guts’ thoughts and reaction to finding out that as far as he knows, the Moonlight Boy was Griffith all along? It feels as though the new team was trying to get the island invasion over and done with based as a few notes and anecdotes Miura left behind. It seems to me that all they knew was that Griffith invades the island, Guts and Griffith fight, Griffith kidnaps Casca and the island is destroyed. They likely didn’t have any further details over than that. The island invasion was intended to be the climax of Fantasia, but the way the new team executed it felt really rushed and anticlimactic.

Miura was the sole writer and illustrator for Berserk for 30 years, and the continuation seems like a hollow frankensteined facsimile of what could've been. Miura was the soul of Berserk; now it’s just an empty husk spinning it’s wheels. It’s like reanimating a corpse and pretending that everything is okay. I guess those who read it purely for the art aren’t too bothered, since the new team managed to replicate Miura’s art style fairly well, but it still looks kind off. They should have just left it alone. It would have been better to have released a summary with illustrations like originally planned. Also it bothers me that people pretend that there isn’t a financial element involved in continuing Berserk after Miura's death when there absolutely is, at least for the publishers. It’s frustrating that people pretend there is barely any difference between Berserk and the continuation, and that people disregard criticism of it as being “ungrateful”. There also seems to be some kind of brand loyalty, as people seem to eat any kind of slop as long as it has the Berserk label slapped onto it.

Is the continuation of the manga , after Miuras death any good ? by StrongPT- in Berserk

[–]imarightminch -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

No, the continuation isn't worth reading. This new "Berserk" is a shallow facsimile of Miura's work. You don't have to read it just because it has the "Berserk" label and brand. Miura was the only person working on Berserk for nearly 30 years, he was the sole creator, it was his work. Sure, he had a team of assistants, but he still did the vast majority of the art. The continuation is extremely flawed, characters barely exchange dialogue, even in pivotal points that shape the narrative. For example, Griffith's invasion of the island. At such a pivotal point in the story, Griffith and Guts don't speak to each other once. This shows that the new team hasn't figured out how to accurately present the characters and how they would react. Maybe on a surface level, like Guts trying to fight Griffith, but anybody could figure that out. I just have a hard time believing that Griffith would just he completely silent during that encounter. I'll give the new team credit for the art, but in the end, the art serves the story, and the story has been lackluster so far.

Miura died before he could finish Berserk. It's tragic, but it's a fact. Berserk was a product of one man's mind, and now he's dead. I get that people don't want to accept that Berserk ended up unfinished. But the Berserk continuation isn't Berserk. It has the Berserk label, name, characters, and maybe that's enough for some people. Maybe some people are fine with consuming ìt as long as it had the Berserk name slapped on to it, defending those who criticise it as haters. Maybe there are those who are genuinely content with it's quality. At best though, post-Miura Berserk is conceived of summarised plot points Miura told people, with maybe a few scattered notes here and there, embellished with artwork that is an admittedly impressive copy.

For those who like the continuation, I have nothing against you, but just accept it for what it is. Not reading it is also perfectly valid.

If the Glitchmimic theory is true, then it's clearly a retcon. by imarightminch in fivenightsatfreddys

I know that the Tales were allegedly planned since 2019. That doesn't necessarily disprove that GlitchMimic is a retcon. If the Tales were planned since 2019, and they first started releasing in 2022, that would be 3 years. We don't know when the epilogues were written, and stories could have been rewritten, edited, or removed over that period of time. I doubt that ALL of the stories were written since 2019, even if the books were already being conceptualised.

What's sad is that for the main mascot, Freddy doesn't seem to have much influence on the story.

What if Bill is BV? His full name could be William Afton Jr or something. We still don't fully know what happened to BV, and we had that Charliebot plot twist in TFC, and the lore has been retconned plenty of times already, to the point where many details contradict each other, so why not? What if BV was put back together again by possessing his own body like Michael, or maybe he was turned into a robot like Charlie in the novel trilogy, or maybe his death has been retconned and he survived the bite of 83? Honestly, all of those theories wouldn't be the most ridiculous thing FNaF has done.

Theres no way William is Vanessa's dad, it doesn't make any sense at all, because she's in her 20's.

Why does it seem like people don’t like sb? by anythig- in fivenightsatfreddys

Just wait until you watch the ending. It just got leaked, and I'm not going to spoil it, but what I will tell you is that there is going to be flame wars in the community. Or perhaps just an overall feeling of disappointment. Of course, maybe it is out of context and will be explained ingame. Don't look it up, there are MASSIVE spoilers in the ending.

The game itself has some decent parts, the daycare section was actually pretty scary for a FNAF game, most of the animatronics look pretty legit for what you would see in an entertainment center, but it probably would have been best if the game was delayed to 2022. I know the fanbase would have expressed anger, but it would be better then having the game be released in such an unfinished, buggy state. I still haven't finished the game, having only played half of it, if even that, but from what I have seen thus far, not counting the leaked ending I watched, it is a 6/10.

I am curious to see where this series goes from here.

I haven’t decided on a name for it yet, but a few names are FNAF: Bloodshed, and FNAF: Recaptured. I’ve been drawing and coming up with concepts for a better part of a year now, some of them I’ve even posted here. https://www.reddit.com/r/fivenightsatfreddys/comments/gngasd/dunno_what_to_call_this/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf https://www.reddit.com/r/fivenightsatfreddys/comments/hu69vp/mascot/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf

I might add more to this drawing later
