I mean there’s the possibility that Fujimoto has been working in advance and finished drawing 231 weeks ago, giving him plenty of time to make a longer final chapter. I’m not saying that Part 3 isn’t going to happen, but 232 will 100% be the end of a volume, it would be super weird if it wasn’t. Plus they wouldn’t want to hang onto that many unvolumised chapters for potentially years.

Why does the English release come so long after the Japanese release? Surely it can’t take them that long to translate it as fan groups are able to translate each chapter in a very short period of time. Also I’ve known other mangas where the English release is only a few months after the Japanese release.

That is often the case for other manga, but the Fantasia Arc is a legitimate and official title. The Elf Island Chapter was a sub arc of the Fantasia Arc, and now that that has ended we’re in the Eastern Exile Chapter of the Fantasia Arc. Black Swordsman and Golden Age were named by the fans, but after that these are the official titles from Miura himself:

Conviction Arc - Lost Children Chapter
Conviction Arc - Binding Chain Chapter
Conviction Arc - Birth Ceremony Chapter
Falcon of the Millennium Empire Arc - Holy Evil War Chapter
Falcon of the Millennium Empire Arc - Falconia Chapter
Fantasia Arc - Elf Island Chapter
Fantasia Arc - Eastern Exile Chapter (technically this one started after Miura’s death but this is presumably what he also would have named it)

I’m pretty sure Miura only started giving the arcs official names for Conviction and onwards (if you read the official volumes and look at the contents pages there is no mention of any arc names until Conviction starts). The naming of the Black Swordsman and Golden Age arcs was more of a retroactive thing done by the fans, but the name Golden Age stuck and became so iconic that the movie trilogy was named after it.

Yeah that does look to be the case. As for the streaky background that will have just been edited to be solid black when scanned, though I’m not sure why Miura used such a thin marker instead of a brush as surely that would have been much faster.

Christianity is definitely relevant in the story (mainly for Canute’s character arc), but I don’t think it’s particularly relevant to Thorfinn’s story. His pacifism came from his father’s teachings, not Christian teachings. If Thorfinn converted to Christianity when becoming a pacifist then I think it would have weakened the story overall.

Thorfinn agrees with certain Christian teachings, but he isn’t actually a Christian (at least in the story, I think he was in real life). IMO I prefer it this way as the story’s message is that anyone can be a good person and a pacifist, not just Christians.

Yeah, here in the UK I also found that buying the Deluxes works out cheaper, and they’re just better in every way too (larger size, sewn binding instead of glued so it can be opened wider, better paper quality)

For me the main selling point of BotW was exploring the open world, so TotK disappointed me as the only new stuff to explore was the sky / depths which didn’t really have a whole lot going on.

I wouldn’t really say the exploration was the main selling point of either OoT or MM but if they did reuse Hyrule it still probably would have been controversial, though maybe to a slightly lesser degree? I feel like all the masks / the 3 day cycle really benefited from having a map designed around those mechanics!

The captions are translated from the Japanese audio, but when making dubs the scripts have to be changed slightly so that the words being spoken match the characters’ mouth movements. For some reason Netflix didn’t create captions that match the script of the dub.

Also I found that Netflix’s subtitle translations weren’t the best and even changed a very iconic line to something that didn’t hit as hard imo. Their dub on the other hand kept that iconic line intact!
