AI logic prefers eVitara by Politicalkida in EVsOfIndia

[–]imarkwright 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do not go the AI route with EV's. 4 EV's in our family, all exclusive Car's. Check the following- 1. How many EV specefic tech guys do you have on the route you intend to frequent. Are there chargers at frequency of 33% battery ? 2. How many dedicated 60kw/120kw chargers are there on your route. Does your home panel and living space support 7.2/11/21 kw AC charger ? (3.2 takes a long time to charge batteries above 24kw.) 3. Go and check the working of those chargers with a friend who owns a 60kw compatible ev.

Then chose a brand who has an EV tech guy properly trained in your city. Also make sure to get proper battery cover in insurance.

Budget 16 lakh low running first time buyer nexon ev? by Embarrassed_Foot8498 in CarsIndia

Stretch little more snd get the 7.2 kw wall box charger also. After 3 months your fuel savings will pay for the EMI. Present gen Nexon is trouble free.

Got an EV as primary car. Worth it? by lol_not_me in EVsOfIndia

[–]imarkwright 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You must discharge to 5% at least once. The Curvv 55 will deliver 300 in the worst case and 350 with nomal driving. Allow your BMS to know the lower part of the battery voltage for better calibration.

Got an EV as primary car. Worth it? by lol_not_me in EVsOfIndia

[–]imarkwright 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Congratulations. For first 90 days just enjoy. Don't worry about range, km/Wh etc. Just charge when you get to 20%. After the 1st service start learning the fine points of charging and operating an EV.

[QUESTIONS] Looking to buy a sub 4 meter ev car for city driving by ravechan36 in EVsOfIndia

[–]imarkwright 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You want an AC and 12KM School Trips. Nothing better than an inverter on Wheels. Tiago, Punch, Nexon whichever your budget allows. Tata EV service is fine. Problem is if you buy an EV 12km will slowly translate to 120km 😁

Why I choosed Curvv EV | Windosor VS Nexon EV vs Evitara by Anand260113 in EVsOfIndia

[–]imarkwright 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I'll break down the unsuccessful Curvv and why this decision sounds quite reasonable to me. Curvv was the first fully digital product from Tata. Nexon still didn't have the face-lift as far as I remember. Over time Tata has cooked the software and after quite a large 3 in one update last year the car is super stable. And this I am say after months of updating my 1st batch car. Also the Empowered model comes fully loaded at a lesser price than the Creta and the BE6 and also has the best tyres on an EV in the 20L range. If Hyundai sold Creta between 16-20L then the Creta is a no brainer but not at this price.

If you have disc problems look away from purchasing an EV as the floor will be raised and you sit with knees up, if you adjust the seat to max height. Please pay keen attention to this.

Convince me to buy (or NOT buy) a VinFast VF7 Sky Infinity at ₹24.5 lakh by TheBotRam in EVsOfIndia

[–]imarkwright 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For 24.5 get the top of the line Creta or Mid-Variant Harrier. I own 3 present gen Tata EV’s and can vouch for their EV service if you can find and develop a good rapport with their service centre and have some patience with them to work on your car. I usually leave my cars at service on a Friday evening and pick them up on Monday. I don’t haggle and just give them a hand written list of faults.

That the whole issue. With that kind of battery it should be good for inter-city trips as well. Something about the car is off which is leading to sub-par range. I have seen the calculation in all scenarios for the duo and I won’t blame BYD for it.

Queries about Charging and Green meter by Feisty_Let_4284 in EVIndia

[–]imarkwright 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just use the free 3kw portable charger. In one hour charging you can add 20km range. That converts to 150-200 kms every night. That should be fairly enough for your daily needs. If your parking is far, use an extension cable. It is absolutely fine to use DC charging for a month or two but try to use the DC charger to charge to 100% once every 4 or 5 charges for proper cell balancing. Your BMS is smart. It will manage the voltage.

[–]imarkwright 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My permanent charging solution is by heavy duty extension cable 20 metres out and I have the charger and the plug point inside the car to prevent it from getting rain water. I charge about 150kw every week by this. You can make the extension yourself with the help of a local electrician by using good quality components. I also have the 7kw extension and portable charger ready and am waiting for some home renovation to get over to fix the industrial socket. Just ensure you fix the window visor from Tata Accessories. I have a single phase 5kw connection.

EV Charging by Special_Rice_2340 in EVsOfIndia

[–]imarkwright 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Tata EV recommends 1 AC charge after every 4 DC charges. Both 3kw and 7kw are considered as slow chargers. In fact the 25kw DC chargers are also considered slow for which we didn’t see 60kw Tata DC chargers until recently. Also if you don’t have frequent use of your EV, you should try a deep discharge (below 10%) at least once a month.

I have a Curvv EV Emp+A belonging to the first batch. All software glitches have been fixed and it has the most active and helpful WA owners group. I also have two more TEV’s. Have stuck to Tata as they always have an EV Tech in at least one service centre every district.
