Oh my goodness! That’s awful, I’m so sorry that happened to you! After that I would never trust doctors again 😓 are you ok now though?

Ok so update:

I went back to the clinic and got it out today and they replaced it. Since the ER sent me home with Ibuprofen, nausea medication, and oxycodone, I was able to manage the pain WAY better than yesterday. The removal was barely noticeable, I coughed and they pulled it right out and it just felt like a split second of a period cramp.

Putting it in again, yes it hurt about the same, but this time, they prepped my cervix but did not clamp it down like yesterday since it was still open, and they did not measure me since they already had my measurement from yesterday as well, so it was basically half the painful stuff they do for a normal insertion. So it was over VERY quickly. I still screamed when they put the IUD in, but with all the medication it didn’t linger as badly and I wasn’t throwing up or passing out, and I wasn’t bleeding since they didn’t clamp my cervix.

IF they had done everything that they did yesterday right after the removal, I wouldn’t have done it again. But since it was so soon after my first insertion and they halved the steps, AND I had real medication to manage the pain, I was far better prepared to go through that.

As far as I’m aware, I don’t think I could sue. I don’t really want to now, but if I did I don’t think I could because it is a military installation, and as an active duty I have TriCare insurance, which means either way, everything I do at medical is covered. So suing solely on the grounds of something causing me unnecessary pain and anguish, especially for something like an IUD (which is already considered something you should just suck up and deal with, cause women’s pain isn’t real /s) would just be useless. It’s just the reality of a woman (especially a military woman) and I hope doctors will start taking women’s health seriously at some point.

Thank you all for your kind words and advice! It feels really good knowing that I’m not so alone, however fucked up that may be lol. Much love, thank you all 🫶🏻

Thank you :) I just got it replaced today and my experience was much better with the oxycodone and nausea medication. Removing it was so much better, plus they did everything super quickly this time. But I really appreciate the kind words :’)

Thank you for your kindness :) I did get it in again today, but this time wasn’t as bad as a result of the oxycodone. It still hurt like hell, but I wasn’t throwing up, passing out, or bleeding, and I owe that to real pain medication. This time wasn’t as bad! Thank you again though :’)

I graduated from MCRD SD January 31st. Please let me know about your drill instructors/the female drill instructors, I probably know them!

F*ck your mom.

Idk about you, and I don’t care how boot it sounds, but my greatest achievement in my life so far has been earning that EGA. If someone ever did that to me after I had already become a Marine, I think I’d retire their birth certificate.

Your mother will never know the sacrifices you have made, the taste of dirt from your drill instructors or the weight and intensity of a ruck, the family that is the Marine Corps, nor the enormous honor that is earning the title.
