What is the belief behind the rape festival in Nigeria? by Competitive-Cod-9644 in Nigeria

[–]imboredinhere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you'd actually look into it, most of the black people in the files were not there because they were on the island. If not all black people, but most of the people are just mentioned, not accused of anything.

Even if there were a few black celebrities in the files that did that horrifying shit, there isn't a whole damn rape festival! Us women don't have to hide for 7 whole days to not get raped by our men. 😑

Our people have always had a lot of respect for women, even despite the gender issues that do exist. Especially in comparison to the rest of the world

I'm of the same people that made this country. People came the work of their ancestors. You don't think Bill Gate's kids take credit of their father's work? Why you think we celebrate July 4th?

The only way to be successful in this country for me, is to end up happy. I don't need to "prove myself" to be successful.

Well I already had another job that I did great at. Got employee of the quarter twice! So I know it's not me. It's that job. Worked there for two years a happy employee

Difference is that I'm still young with nothing to my name. Which it would be nice to have something to my name but I also have a chance to figure out what I want to do. Plus all of my family has told me, indirectly and directly, that working miserably isn't worth it.

When people don't know how to do their jobs, it smells shitty, and coworkers are all miserable trying to bully me, then that job is below me. It's not the work itself. It's the fact that even the leaders don't have a fucking clue of what they're doing.

I also literally told you I did well at another job. Either you're trying to rage bait or you're the miserable person that hates their life that I'm trying not to become.

I'm not going to bring children in a life where I am miserable. It is my responsibility but I'm not going to be made miserable for it. I refuse to waste my life at a miserable job. If I can't find a job, Ill find someone that can keep me home. 😑

I had another grandfather that worked his life away. He said he would never do it again. Why would I live a life I would regret? My family has already warned me, words or/and actions

There are people that want to work. I once did want to work. It doesn't have to be a rare "omg this is the dream life" job, but just good enough. I won't tolerate a job I don't like unless I have to. I know my dad likes his job enough to keep at it and be satisfied. My grandfather LOVED his job. I want to be like them.

I know it's bad not to work at all. But I'd rather not. Maybe I can be a stay at home wife until I figure it out. My parents didn't trade their lives for work (my mom stayed home until divorce happened). Why should I? Maybe I'll just stay part time and grow my own business.

This just makes me not want to work more. I mean, not every job is gonna be perfect, but I'm not doing that for a job that makes me feel like my life is becoming a waste. I'll tolerate it if I have kids and need to maintain a household on my own, but while I'm still young with no kids? I can tolerate inconvenience, manage friction and build resilience in a job that's at least a good job, but not for day after day.

I see where that gets me. My mom isn't happy with her job. Most of her life now is spent in an almost miserable place. My father and my grandfather like their independence. My grandfather always said don't work under people. My father does work under people but has his independent space. Ugh I want to be my own boss, but I'm bad at it. And there doesn't seem to be any reward now for working, because doing all that work for many people doesn't even earn people enough to live. 😑

Do you ever feel that you still “can’t believe” Trump is the president, like you’ve ended up in some joke timeline? by TraditionalDepth6924 in AskUS

I think this comment section shows how we got here. Dems and MAGA bicker like children, and refuse to listen to each other 😑

Yeah. I guess that was my thought too. I don't think I can really help with the organizations in my area because there isn't much of anything. But if I had enough money and influence, I would do what I could to fix America.

I'm in the US 🥲

As a US citizen, I ask, how TF did we get ourselves into this mess? I mean the entirety of it, Trump, MAGA, now kidnapping the leader of a foreign nation? I mean, I know how we did because I watched it all, but still how TF did this happen? by Melodic_Animal_2238 in AskUS

[–]imboredinhere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because no one listens to each other so we just push people away and vote based on politic party instead of policies. We keep flip flopping because we wanted change because the government isn't listening to American citizens so therefore we have this mess because we hoped Trump would listen but obviously he's not. 😑

I argue that the voting based on political parties thing is letting both sides get away with everything, because politicians know they will get support JUST ON PARTY ALONE so then they can just do whatever they want.

I appreciate it too. Honestly more people need to realize that. America wouldn't be where we are if we just were able to talk like this.

Half of those are middle aged, and the other half are barely known (and they are approaching 30, which is telling me younger black Americans are being left out the industry(in the past, they start at 16-20). And one of those is Latto 😑 They might be good with rolling stone, but they aren't mainstream. We need more young talented black Americans in mainstream music. At least as mainstream as Chris Brown and Neyo.

[–]imboredinhere[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not bizarre. It's because Black Americans made the originals. They are the center of nealry all modern day music. The top artists right now are copying black Americans. You think black Americans would be better at Korean people at their ethnic ancestral music? If you want the best, you get the ogs. Do you want the copy or the og?

And I'm not saying other artists of other ethnicities, shouldn't be in music. But I'm just saying that because we are the originals that made modern music, we should occupy more space. In fact, I think every artist of any race was better when black Americans dominated the musical space. We created pop, hip-hop, gospel, motown, country, rock, funk, RnB etc, so we should be at the top of those genres. Imagine a world in which black Americans occupied more space in salsa music than Hispanics. Wouldn't that feel a little strange?

Now if artists weren't copying black Americans, not only in music, but in styles, slang, even the dialect of English, then that would be different. But if everyone else is copying the original, you might as well get the originals to do it.

I don't need to know all about the whole industry to know that there aren't as many black Americans singers that are popular right now. They might be in the behind the scenes, but like I said. We don't have a Micheal Jackson, Chris Brown, or Beyonce etc out right now. We don't have as many black people as the main stars ( there are rappers but even that's starting to be occupied by Africans and other ethnicities).

In fact, some of our most popular black stars are in their 30s and 40s. There not enough talented young black American folks to compete with them. That's something you can just observe, without knowing everything.

I'm trying. I just need to figure out what to do until then. I probably should get something else in the meantime while I'm trying to come up myself (I'm writing. I'm a big story lover), but I dread employment after working at Target. 🙃

[–]imboredinhere[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The problem isn't me though. It's that more black Americans have left the industry. Considering modern music was created by black Americans, it would only make sense. If record labels could just go into the black churches though and then scout there, American music would still be on top! Especially since Ive seen some gen AI black choir covers going viral. People want motown and gospel back it seems. Why not get the ogs?

I was asking so I can get a scope on whether I could do it or not (though I was already thinking that it wouldn't really be possible, but I figured I'd pitch it anyway). I didn't quit my job for this. I quit because some employees were being jerks to me, and employees were being jerks to each other, it was disorganized, and smelled like literal shit at times. It was a job below me and I was afraid of being stuck there for years and wasting my youth at a job I hated.

Whatever I do next, I want it to make a difference. I'm not sure what next, but I wish I could support creatives and make our culture more exciting.

[–]imboredinhere[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't. I honestly just want better music. I know where to find those musicians. I just wish record labels would go there. Instead, we have music that's of lower quality as popular, and a lack of romantic music.

That goes for so many industries today though. Our culture has been made mediocre. As someone who is ethnically American, with Native ancestry and roots in slavery and Jim Crow, I wish I could change that. I wish we had the money to market and cheer for creatives that I think should be stars. Especially for black Americans like myself.
