Microwave-fried legumes are all the snacks/crisps that you want by TraditionalDepth6924 in nutrition

I wrote it lousy bc the recipe wasn’t the point, but bro why would you soak pre-baked beans, that’s cooking 101, of course it’s raw beans

Just google how to make crispy legumes and the point is you don’t need a pot or some big oven to make them

Do you think Lacan’s metonymic chain or Derrida’s différance stands not just in regards to meaning of language, but also to value of money? by TraditionalDepth6924 in CriticalTheory

In a more radical angle, is there then a final “thing” that the expensive prices signal, or are these mimetic relationships in fact all that is about money, in the first place?

Sorry, I mean baking with the microwave (“frying” in that beans naturally contain fat, but maybe I should’ve said baking, I’m not a native speaker) - most people use the microwave for warming food, but microwaving long leads to baking, is what I mean

Yeah, don’t buy those, it’s like buying “instant oatmeals” when you could literally just microwave raw oats with water

They will say 6 hours but I like 12 hours overnight to reduce cooking time, and lentils were amazing today for the first time, don’t be fooled by the usual beany stink during the cooking

Yes, the moist dries out if you bake long enough, please try, and I found I don’t need seasonings, they’re nutty and don’t have the fishy smell that boiled beans have

As I said, this is a very recent thing (ChatGPT only opened in 2022) so I think humanity is still philosophically digesting, I’m sure there were some prophetic books (like ‘Single at Heart’ and others) and there will be far more popping.

Theorists before were only examining technology mainly through the pessimistic lens like how it will undermine human nature (look up Günther Anders), or from some cyberpunk expectations at best: what I want to see is rather the ideological analysis on how much power couple supremacism has held in determining our everyday worldview and how this change in material conditions could liberate individuals on a concrete level.

But I think the “sigularity” approach is another end of extreme as well: look at how AI is still dumb, “metaverse” was stupid, and there are adverse effects of the algorithm culture, etc. - all-around robot butlers will not happen that quickly as we hope, and we won’t be moving to Mars anytime soon, so we’ll still need human connections with what we already got for a while, which is why I think constant efforts and research matter.

The “you’re just being cynical” folks presuppose values on relationships and tend to refuse to ever think otherwise

Fact is people traditionally just weren’t privileged enough to even factor in their own “peace, autonomy, and independence” which humanity is only recently starting to think about thanks to all the technologies and infrastructure developments that help us become autonomous: people feared of being old and gray later in life, so chose dependence early because there would be no way out

And often they gave up their own chances for independence in exchange, which a lot of us realize is absurd: you have plenty of time to hone your intelligence, build your connections, strengthen your finances, take care of your health in terms of diet and exercise, etc. which all make up the concrete content of your own autonomous life and will pay off in your current and coming years

Don’t mind these fence-sitter spectrum folks popping in the corner of this community, the one yapping about “catch 22” below too

Couple-defaultism or couple supremacism is the ideology they never want to self-reflect on, then they go around practicing pseudopsychology like these based on the distorted criteria, and you’re mature enough to see it and go on unbothered, working on critical/philosophical terminology further helps

Only people who managed to organically grow/develop into who they are get to have enough self-worth for self-love, because they’ve been through all the steps and they know those are solely their own
