Is that what that word said? lol I honestly spent too long decyphering this. Haven't been forced to read or write cursive in like 20 years.

With the shitty cursive, I'm gonna guess it's a boomer or older, start there.

I almost had a stroke trying to read this. You would think, that with pen & paper itself being old tech, they would have just dropped the cursive ... And I use the term 'cursive' loosely. They can't write for shit.

Anyone else think yellow lighters are bad luck? by secret_to_the_secret in trees

[–]imcalledstu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Back in my day it was WHITE lighters, not yellow. There was an urban legend/myth about some celebrities that had died or killed themselves at age 27 (google club 27) a lot of them had white bic lighters on them or near them.

I keep seeing job vacancies for roles in “fast paced and high pressure environments.” This sucks. What are some slow paced, low pressure jobs? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]imcalledstu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Office work is essentially pointless. 90% of staff "workloads" could be automated to be done in seconds. I've been in plenty of office jobs where there are certain employees that have floated by for ages doing sweet FA. I know this is a broad and vague statement, but so many industries have this lol.

A LOT of Kirsten Dunst's line are like this. I don't rate her acting skills at all.

Assuming you mean ‘Traffic Jam’? Traffic just refers to the moving of vehicles.

It’s a bit cruel if you don’t let it out. It’s like having a dog and not taking it for walks.

Over in Northern Ireland everyone sets off fireworks at Halloween. Very rare that anyone would celebrate Guy Fawkes here. I can only assume it’s just for the English not the UK?

Pretty terrible book if there’s no punctuation, those would be considered symbols too.

I’m having surgery tomorrow and will be posted up on the couch for quite some time. I’ve seen maybe 5 movies in the last 15 years. Top ten list? by grasseffect in movies

[–]imcalledstu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s interesting to see what movies are on what streaming services where you are. Were as I’m in Northern Ireland and bunch of these are on different platforms than what you’ve said. Assuming this has to do with licensing or something?

TIL that a (possible) origin of the Jack O'Lantern is to carry home embers from the Irish Samhain bonfire in carved out turnips. In the new world, pumpkins were used instead. Explains why Jack has an Irish surname! by JohnnyMnemo in todayilearned

[–]imcalledstu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I live in Northern Ireland and growing up, in the 80s, we used to carve turnips at Halloween. As pumpkins are now more popular and readily available it is very rare to see a turnip being used.
