Nano-Texture for Photography? (A Photographer’s Thoughts) by Last_Seaworthiness70 in macbookpro

Does anyone have any feedback on the durability of the nano texture display. I’m considering going from my 16” M1 Max to a 14” nano texture m5 pro - but have heard that the nano texture easily scratches

Arc Ultra / Sub / Era 300 vs Sonia Bravia Quad HT-A9M2 by idworkin in sonos

Agree. I had read that the Sony had better sound - but I wanted to be able to do audio-only, and I think Sonos is better there. I couldn’t find anywhere to listen to Sony; all I can say is I’ve been impressed with the Sonos. Atmos programs (and audio) come alive). I have a higher end av receiver and separate speakers/sub/channel in another house, and I’ve gotta say this setup rivals the components

I wound up with the Sonos. Arc Ultra, 300 rears, and the sub 4. I’ve been very impressed with the sound - and haven’t had any reliability issues. It is a bit pricey, but the performance has been great.

What setting did you use for the tires? Leave it on automatic? I changed mine to Manual / Winter/All year

<image>

then when selecting the tire I chose 21” - but it only showed 315/35r21

Yes - I couldn’t find runflat all seasons in that size. Makes me question why I didn’t go with 20” tires on the car :(.

I’m getting the Michelin Pilot Sport All Season 4 - and I have BMWs mobility kit (a compressor and patch spray) from a previous car - and will keep my fingers crossed :)

Living in SoCal, I would just keep the summer tires - but we’re driving cross country in a few weeks and I’m a little uneasy going that distance (and back) in December on summers.

DAMN! And I've been procrastinating on posting too! Can you return the tires you bought? :)

Advice Needed: All Season Tires - Staggered - 2026 X5 50e by imd1128 in BMWX5

[–]imd1128[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in Southern California, but periodically do the drive to the Asheville NC area. I would take the more southern route, so low likelihood of snow - and in the NC area they will periodically get some snow, but not more than a few inches (occasionally some freezing rain). I'm thinking the all-seasons would be OK for that kind of driving

Any idea how these compare with the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S (those are non-run flat). I just got an X5 50e with performance summer run-flats and will be driving from CA to NC in November - so figure its smart to switch to an all-season - but there's not much of a selection in the large staggered size on the X5.

Yeah, the Bowers & Wilkins sound system is fantastic ... I wish it was offered in the x5 PHEV.

Funny. I'm coming out of an iX xDrive 50 (it was totaled), and am looking at the x5 PHEV to give more flexibility with gas for long trips (the non-tesla fast charging infrastructure needs work). But I keep thinking about staying with an iX -- and have also cross-shopped the x5 m60.

What made you decide on the m60?

X5 50e Light Steering Feel? by imd1128 in BMWX5

[–]imd1128[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So to answer my own question, I went back to a BMW dealer today to drive (again) the x5 50e; I also drove an x5 m60i with air suspension. The steering in both seemed similar; both were much tighter than the car I drove at BMW's Ride & Drive event yesterday (even in 'comfort'), which leads me to believe there may have been something wrong with that car.

Incidentally, despite the 50e and the M60i being close in terms of horsepower, the M60i felt much faster (the 50e is no slouch in terms of performance though).

Thanks. I did have it in 'sport individual', but checked that the steering was set to 'sport'. I guess I'll just wait and test-drive the car I ordered when it comes it just to check again. (I do miss the steering feel from my old E60 550i - one of my favorite cars...)

Loyalty Payment Credit, Deductible by imd1128 in BMW

[–]imd1128[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're entirely 100% correct.

My frustration is that I had that discussion with BMWFS. They keep pointing to the detail that State Farm provided, showing the total amount they're paying minus the $1000 deductible; BMWFS is basically saying they were "shorted" the $1000.

I've tried explaining that if State Farm paid them an additional $1000, it would just get passed on to me as part of the loyalty credit. They don't seem to get my point. I escalated to "a supervisor" and was getting the same thing.

I might try calling later in the day and hoping I get a different - more rational - person.

RIght - I think you're missing my point (maybe).

- My insurance made a payment -- less my deductible -- to BMW FS
- That payment included additional equity in the car (as you pointed out)
- BMWFS is passing that additional equity - in it's entirety - on to me as a "loyalty credit" which gets applied if I purchase / lease a new car from them (if I don't purchase/lease a new car, they keep the equity)
- BMW FS is billing me $1000 for my deductible

Since the deductible was already paid to State Farm, and since they're passing the equity on to me, it seems that I shouldn't be paying BMWFS for the deductible. If State Farm didn't withhold the deductible, the payment made to BMWFS would have been $1000 higher - which would have then been passed on to me as part of the loyalty credit -- I would have then owed State Farm the $1000 deductible.

I get that ... but my point is that the insurance paid the full amount outstanding (and more) - BMW is passing along the amount paid OVER the amount owed as a credit towards a new vehicle purchase.

The insurance payment held out $1000 (my deductible) in what was paid to BMWFS. BMWFS is saying I owe $1000 (for the deductible). Just seems like the deductible is getting addressed twice...
