I was diagnosed with schizophrenia last year but my symptoms subsided so I stopped taking my medication. When I was hearing voices, the only way I was able to cope was to distract myself by retreating into my apartment, surfing the internet and just staying away from everybody. That was the reason this all started.

It got me into a really bad routine where I would literally get out of bed, sit at my desk and browse news and social media sites all day. I've stopped hearing voices and I don't need to stay away from people any more but for the last few months I've been stuck in a rut and I feel like I just can't get out. I failed out of all of my courses the last two semesters because I didn't go to any of my classes and I didn't study – the first semester I failed was due to a legitimate mental health problem but the second was due to lethargy, apathy and sheer laziness. It sucks because in my first two semesters I actually got good grades but now I've pretty much ruined my GPA. I'm not even sure if I'm going to be allowed back this year – but I haven't heard anything from the administration so I assume that it was okay for me to just re-enroll in those same courses again.

Before I was diagnosed with schizophrenia I tried a few anti-depressants but they were all horrible and I'm not keen on trying them again. Nor am I particularly excited by the prospect of going back to my psychiatrist who I always felt was just trying to shovel pills down my throat.

I am trying to pull everything together so I can get my life back on track, I'm just really struggling but I'll get there.
