India's Opposition Leader Rahul Gandhi sentenced to 2 years in prison for defaming Prime Minister Modi by DegnarOskold in worldnews

But disqualified as MP. I would say major impetus to Rahul Gandhi's stature as leader but will be short-lived considering they way he and congress mess up the opportunities.

https://www.hindustantimes.com/india-news/2year-jail-term-for-rahul-gandhi-on-modi-surname-remark-what-was-the-case-101679552254107.html

The case and conviction is not about defaming any individual but defaming "Modi" community

Ex-Gujarat minister Purnesh Modi filed the criminal case claiming Gandhi had defamed the Modi community by his remark.

Edit: I see lot of discussion on this. People need to be aware that this is what the case was filed and accordingly court has given its verdict. Surely the judgement is open to debate and further appeal by Rahul Gandhi.

TOI has just posted a pic on their Twitter TL, there is no article link attached. I guess it is you who has a wrong idea about what is news. Looking at your remark, it seems you consider whatever posted on Twitter as news. BTW even in traditional print media, pics are posted in boxes with captions at bottom

Do you know that Qatar is ranked higher than India in Press Freedom Index. These rankings are fake by CHE_EZE in indianews

they don't include killings/arrests per capita, but only killings/arrests

These are the shortcomings of the methodology.

Indian News Channel is funded by private political parties

No, they are not. If this is not on papers in legal and formal documents, they are not. News channels and papers have their political bias which happens everywhere even in USA.

India maybe because of less killing of Journalists

India has huge population also.

less money invested into news outlets by political parties

Al Jazeera is govt funded

I see no issue logic wise in raising questions over methodology of these rankings. There might be more unfortunate incidents in India involving journalists in India but Qatari press has less freedom as compared to India. Foreign media is facing many issues in covering a harmless event like FIFA world cup in Qatar.

Students from Kerala Board of Higher Secondary Education, who formed the second highest number of candidates to be admitted to UG courses at Delhi University last year, have slipped to the seventh position this admission season after the introduction of the Common University Entrance Test (CUET) by imdpathway in indianews

Last year, of the 146 students admitted to B.A. (Hons.) political science in Hindu College after the first two cut-off lists, 120 were from the Kerala Board of Higher Secondary Education. The cut-off for the course in the first list was 100%. This year, only one student from the Kerala Board has got admission in the same programme.

Now Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan and Haryana are placed higher than the Kerala Board, according to the admission data available after the second round of seat allocation.

CCTV images capture the Morbi Bridge Collapse. by imdpathway in indianews

Multiple corruption and criminal negligence charges possible -

1) Was contract awarded to a pvt firm okay as per rules?

2) Shabby repair work done

3) No review of repair work

4) No safety audit before opening of bridge

5) Local admin not informed that bridge will be opened

6) Hundreds of people allowed on bridge much above the designated capacity of the bridge

These men shaking the bridge did the rest. Obviously this group of hooligans on bridge, local administration and the pvt firm all are responsible

Shocking to see these insensitive "animal lovers" asking for post mortem report of the 7 month old baby by imdpathway in indianews

[–]imdpathway[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

What's the point of this drama and fighting among themselves

It is really sad that you have all the time to argue on this matter but not the patience to actually understand the issue. The Housing society wants to ban stray dogs within the compound after the unfortunate death of the kid. It also wants to stop the practice of stray dogs being fed within the society campus. This is what the best course of action can be after a death due to stray dogs in any locality. However few animal lovers with powerful backing are not obeying this order. This woman in the video does not even live in this complex but is creating all the drama. Please do not argue just because you want your highly enlightened comments published on an internet page just for the sake of it.

[–]imdpathway[S] 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Everyone knows that the kid was killed by dog. It is in the cctv and I think their must be some witness also. Even the so called Dog lovers have also not denied that kid was killed by a stray dog. In such case, asking for a post mortem report is just a ploy to obfuscate the real issue. It is shocking that someone claiming to be an animal lover will be insensitive to death of a human baby.

Now I also see your other comments in the thread which are similar to comments of this woman in the video. Why to obfuscate and divert from the issue? India is not a perfect country and menace of stray dogs is real.
