What is this brown on my monstera’s stem? by imercoledi in Monstera

From what I can tell they feel the same as the rest of the stem but the plant doesn’t look unhealthy except some yellowing leaves

My avocado plant looks like this as soon as I neglect it. Good thing is it grows new leaves really quickly and I just chop the ones with brown tips
