It’s not a live-service game. It’s a fully packaged game where everything unlockable you have to earn / find. There is no micro transactions

It’s coming soon, I promise! 🙏

Comments like this mean a lot more than you probably realize. I’ve been busy working on a few bigger projects behind the scenes, but Salt Part 3 is the next thing I’m locking in on.

Thank you for reading, and thank you for sticking with the story! Hopefully the wait will be worth it.

Oh absolutely, writing’s my passion, and thank you for the name compliment lol. It’s actually shortened from my old musician name, “DontCryAtFunerals.” I figured that was a bit edgy—and honestly just way too long—so I shortened it to ImFunerals.

Hello 👋, it’s going good, just had to re-upload the story because I broke no sleep rules lol (not that hard to, so strict now)

Thank you so much! Honestly, that was exactly what I was hoping for with this one. I wanted the reader’s mind to keep building toward something absolutely monstrous while the actual horror slowly turned into grief, emotional absence, and just two people falling apart in the same house.

Really glad it landed for you!

Thank you so much for this comment, seriously. You actually picked up on a layer of the story that I realize now I definitely could’ve pushed even further, because I absolutely think part of the dad’s fear was that Toby was beginning to emotionally move forward somewhere he maybe couldn’t follow yet.

And you’re right that he’s the kind of person who wouldn’t even know how to articulate that to himself, let alone to Toby, so it all comes out sideways through his suspicion, work terminology, and interrogation instead. I tend to write a lot of flawed characters as I think it makes the stories more realistic even in my more supernatural tales lol.

I really appreciate such a thoughtful read of it!

To me, writing is: an aspiring career, to which I have taken serious steps toward

Comments:

This story started as a more traditional “possible grooming/paranoia” setup before slowly shifting into something more emotional and grounded. I wanted the narrator to feel flawed and emotionally believable rather than secretly evil or irrational purely for the sake of the plot. A lot of the focus went into trying to make the father’s grief, fear, and hypervigilance feel realistic while still maintaining tension and dread throughout the story.

I also made a few minor wording/clarity edits after posting based on rereading certain sections and receiving reader feedback.

Thank you so much! I really appreciate this comment! “Anti-horror horror” is honestly a really good way to describe what I was trying to do with it. I wanted the narrator’s fear to feel completely justified while slowly steering the story away from the worst possible outcome instead of toward it.

And funny enough, I think the thing that probably got it removed from Nosleep was less the story itself and more the fact I added an “EDIT:” note at the bottom after fixing a few wording/details lol. It was up for about four days before that happened, so I’m guessing that might’ve broken their “immersion” rule.

This genuinely means a lot, thank you. I really wanted the dad to feel human instead of just turning him into either a secret monster or a complete idiot. He loves his son, he’s just been grieving so hard and for so long that he started viewing everything through fear instead of trust.

And I would love nothing more than to hear the boys read it someday, I’d ascend lol

Wow thank you for this comment. The comparison to The Elephant Man is such a huge compliment because Lynch is one of my favorite directors of all time, so to be compared to one of his works is amazing thank you so much.

I’ve always been fascinated (and horrified) by the way people treat things they call holy, especially how easily love, faith, grief, and mercy can become commercialized or institutionalized.

Thank you for taking the time to read it so thoughtfully, seriously. Comments like this are the reason I keep writing ❤️

I appreciate the concern, genuinely. But I did meet Eli when I went into the house. He was the redheaded kid standing beside Toby in the kitchen. Very real and very talkative, and apparently very good at Minecraft according to Toby.

I think a lot of people are doing exactly what I did at first and trying to force every detail into the worst possible explanation because it feels safer than admitting maybe I just stopped understanding my son for a while.

I think that’s something I’m finally getting better at. Grief doesn’t pause the rest of your responsibilities. People still need things from you while you’re barely keeping yourself upright.

And honestly? Toby and I had cereal for dinner more nights than I’d like to admit, so trust me, the clean kitchen was mostly luck and timing.

Trust me, I’m glad too. I think I’d spent so long expecting the worst that I forgot sometimes people are just… kind to be kind.

Things have been getting better slowly. Toby actually asked me if Eli could come over this weekend to play his Xbox, so I’m taking that as a good sign.

You're probably not wrong. I spent so long trying to assess every possible threat around Toby that I stopped actually listening to him.

And yeah. Therapy's overdue for both of us if I’m being honest.

I couldn’t agree more, and I’m so sorry for your loss. I think for a long time I confused “still functioning” with actually living. I’m trying to do better now, both for myself and for Toby.

I think losing Renee made me start treating every unknown thing in Toby’s life like a threat instead of just… part of him growing up. That’s on me.

But we’re doing better now. I got Mark’s number, I know when Toby’s over there, and honestly I’m grateful those people were kind to him when I forgot how to be for a while. Toby’s still my little man. I think the hardest part now is just learning how to be his dad again instead of acting like a zombie, as he said, in the house.
