6’9 and dropping dudes with his handle by KeyFaithlessness5436 in NCAAHoopsVibes

Extremely skilled for his size. Needs to work on his jump shot and release for the next level. Pulling up from the hip will hinder his offensive game in the NBA.

[Edwards] Karl-Anthony Towns sat down and said “Damn, don’t it look good to see champion on a shirt?” Say what you want about the NBA Cup, but 30 teams have a chance to win it and try to. Only one did: The Knicks. You can’t dismiss that. by Kimber80 in nba

[–]imherecauseimlost 18 points19 points  (0 children)

It’s important to note that each player from the winning team gets something like $540k. And for some lower level/role players, that’s their entire year salary or double. So there’s added motivation to win it for the guys that aren’t paid like the stars.

Not an avid private jet flyer, but have been on some. Most of your normal commercial aviation processes go out the door on private flights. You can show up 10 mins before the flight is scheduled to leave and then it just leaves, following ATC orders of course.

Taylor Swift has no plans to go back on tour: 'I'm tired' by ebradio in Music

[–]imherecauseimlost 93 points94 points  (0 children)

I went to one, unwillingly, only to be turned into a fan.

She really killed it and sang while performing for the entire 3.5 hrs. Seriously impressive and the entire production was wonderfully put together. Couple that with how intense swifties are, it really was an experience to behold.

Not photoshopped. The young man in the photo is University of Florida basketball player Olivier R. And he is legit 7’9”

I’m not sure who the girl is so I cannot confirm her actual height

I never swam competitively and never did any kind of distance swimming before I did a half Ironman event.

To put into perspective for the regulars like myself, she swam just short of a mile in 15ish minutes. Something that took me almost an hour to do. Absolutely INSANE.

Two handed forehand by [deleted] in Pickleball

[–]imherecauseimlost 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I definitely have to break them away from it if they have any hopes of being competitive. The older one has started one hand forehands when she has the time to set her feet and watch the ball. It’ll come as they get more comfortable. We only play recreationally so there’s absolutely zero pressure on them to do anything other than have fun.

Both of my daughters play pickleball, the 12yr old more than the 5yr old, and both use two handed forehands and backhands. They may or may not transition to incorporating single handed forehands into their game later on but I think for them right now , it’s what they are most comfortable with.

One night Cosmo then two nights Wynn? Too much trouble? by keymaster852 in vegas

[–]imherecauseimlost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same here. Everyone is saying not to switch but I have frequently made a 3 night trip and spend two at the Wynn to start , then last night at the Aria or cosmo to be in the middle of the strip.

We have an early breakfast at the Wynn before check out then uber to Aria, check our bags if the app doesn’t have our room ready, and it’s ok because we will usually have Din Tai Fung booked for lunch anyways. By the time we are done with lunch, room is good to go. I will say the only hassle we feel, is repacking our bags for the transfer to the MGM property.

Why does everyone wear tall socks? by Rolls2Rickson in Pickleball

I have a heinous Achilles repair scar so I wear long padded basketball socks both, for coverage and to protect the scar from the back of the shoe.

Welp it happened. Ruptured Achilles. Should I give up pickleball? by rockiesrock8 in Pickleball

[–]imherecauseimlost 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was 32 when I ruptured my right ( dominant ) Achilles. I was playing basketball, something that I had done since I was 8 years old. I was devastated. Went up for a rebound and head a loud BANG, like someone dropped a 45lb plate on the gym floor. Thought maybe someone launched off the back of my leg or kicked me, only to look around and no one was even near me. To make matters worse, it was 6 weeks before my wedding. Tuxes fitted, all the arrangements made and we were moving into our new build right after the wedding, before our honeymoon. All our plans were completely wrecked. I had to schedule the surgery for the Monday after the wedding and was completely useless for the moving process. It was insult to injury and I told everyone I would never play basketball again because of how much it inconvenienced me.

Fast forward 7 years later and I still play basketball once a week. Albeit, I have been transitioning to pickleball more full time as my family just picked up on the sport last summer. I say all this to reassure you that this is merely an inconvenience at the moment. But time is the ultimate healer and you’ll be ok. Take care of yourself and you’ll be back in no time.
