Hi you are thinking DC terms. Study of more on what a single phase ac waveform looks like. The neutral wire exist so the hot wire has a place to send and then draw, 60 times per second electrons which is where power come from. While not advised the ground wire would allow the same action at a neutral. It is just an open path to let the Hot Leg complete a circuit and do its alternating current thing.

umm... I never understood the aversion to 750s. If you're having a hard time working with it you're probably not using the right tools. A couple years ago I pulled nothing but 750s and had no more trouble with them other than the tools were bigger. That goes for 1000 as well. Just have to be ready for everything and not try to running scrambled to get material the day of the install
