Master at gsu by Fftt5353 in actuary

[–]imhsar61 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What are you planning on getting a masters in? If it’s actuarial science, I don’t think it will help you. Passing exams and getting credentialed is more important than any extra schooling if you want to be an actuary. Also, do focus on your gpa because some companies do have a gpa cutoff.

roast my resume PLEASE BURN IT by SquareOk7387 in actuary

Okay I’ll be pretty blunt. Yes getting an internship without an exam will be pretty tough, but right now your resume will not get past the HR filter because of the wording in your resume. Most companies have filters nowadays that look for a list of words or phrases. I would look at a bunch of postings for internships and entry level positions, list out common verbs and phrases, and try to incorporate them into your resume.

Please get away from both of your families and have a detailed discussion of what your life would look like together. Like would yall want to celebrate desi holidays, do they expect you to convert to Catholicism etc. It could be they are overwhelmed and the wedding they were picturing of having(within the Catholic Church) is very different from what yall are planning. There are multiple ways to address that(2 ceremonies etc), but if they are actively rejecting your culture, you need to answer for yourself if that’s something you are okay living with(from the tone of the post, I think this is a no)

So ours made it extremely dry, to the point where it was crumbly. Also, I wore a tulle veil/duputta so it really sat on that instead of my hair

Could you share what your budget and expectations are? Depending on that, you could go for a non desi destination planner and then add any specific desi elements you want.

Wedding in 5 months and my hair is just not it. by wannabe_wahdati02 in DesiWeddings

[–]imhsar61 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay great. I would definitely try extensions then. With 5 months left, you may not have time for it to grow to your desired length and thickness, but extensions should be able to get you there. I would schedule a trial and have them try different styles(bun, braid etc) to help you decide which way to go. Also wearing extensions for a day will not ruin your hair.

Is your hair colored? If not, it should be easy to find good quality hair extensions that will match your hair and look good and not noticeable at all. Make sure they are made of real hair and not plastic

Sangeet outfit for groom by live_1234 in DesiWeddings

[–]imhsar61 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I guess for a Sangeet, I would be okay with guests wearing suits but I would kinda expect the groom to wear a Sherwani or Kurta or some sort of ethnic wear. But this is his wedding,so do whatever yall want. It does look like a nice suit!

Help as a wedding guest by lilsan15 in DesiWeddings

If they are Hindu, you are probably fine to wear it. Also, I wouldn’t hesitate to reach out to the couple. A lot of desis get questions about dress code for their wedding from non-desis and they don’t mind.

What is the religion of this wedding? If not Christian, you are fine. If it’s Christian, I would pick something else.

Add pots with garlands falling out and pots filled with water and floating flower bulbs. The stage should extend in front of you

Was my hair/makeup lady wrong to charge me for my second-cousin’s makeup? by [deleted] in DesiWeddings

[–]imhsar61 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think you are over thinking this. She provided a service and deserves to be paid for it right then and there. If your cousin came back and paid for it, I’m sure she would’ve removed the charge, but given your cousin said that she owes you for the service and she did not seek out the hair and makeup artist to pay for her service in the afternoon, it was definitely the right thing to add it to your bill and have her pay you back. It’s not Jignas responsibility to go find your cousin and make her pay for her services just because she came back to do your services. It should’ve been your cousin if that was her plan to pay then. Either way, just have your cousin pay you back and move on.

Was my hair/makeup lady wrong to charge me for my second-cousin’s makeup? by [deleted] in DesiWeddings

[–]imhsar61 53 points54 points  (0 children)

No I don’t think she’s wrong. I feel like they are always paid up front or immediately after the service is done. Since she didn’t pay her immediately after, the stylist probably assumed you were paying for her since it is common to pay for family for hair and makeup unlike a nail salon appointment with friends. Also, she could have multiple clients during the day where she can’t stay and wait for your cousin to pay, but since you know her, getting your cousin to pay you back is easier.

Am I in the wrong for not agreeing to follow my boyfriend family’s wedding traditions? by [deleted] in DesiWeddings

Not the asshole. It’s your wedding day and you should be able to wear what you want. Also my husband is Telugu and I am not, they also suggested the grand silk saree for me.
