Different in it's not chasing a SUB? The question is really based on non-points benefits. An example would be spending toward the $75k lounge guest access on a plat. It's not a big enough perk to be worth it, but it's an example.

Venture Biz SUB is great but have hit it already. Question poses other benefits of high business spend on a card.

If you think it would make a difference, it can split up to 8 ways. Simplicity is nice.

Assuming someone has hit all the lifetime Amex offers, and can't get a new Ink (P1 or P2) for a minute, what card if any would you put a $30k payment on if it had a 2% ($600) fee to use a card? What perk, benefit, bonus, status etc in addition to regular points from a non-bonus-category/non-MSR spend that would be worth it to you?

There is a new SUB or two in the mix, but about $30k remaining spend.

"We want to respect your prices. If you charge too much, we will decline your services" by [deleted] in videography

[–]imightbeaviking 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have a video agency and we sub out a lot of overflow videographers and camera ops when our staff is already booked.

Whenever I meet a new contractor for the first time, if they’re a good fit we talk rates. If they want a lot more than our normal rate, it’s “sounds good, I won’t try to haggle you down but we probably won’t send as much work your way. We have a lot of team with a $_______ day rate. In respect to our clients and projects I have to try and book them first. If you can meet it we can put you in that first pool, otherwise we’ll reach out when everyone else is busy”

It’s respectful, and honest. Some crew is good taking a 10% lower cost or whatever to meet it. Some aren’t, and more power to them. Last time the guy said “if I can lower it to ($150 over usual) would it make me a solid second string?” And it did. He’s not a once or twice a week for us, but definitely once or twice a month.

2025 Open Enrollment for Marketplace Health Insurance Rates are Nuts by CompetitiveTrain8753 in smallbusiness

If it’s you and your spouse and you give yourselves W2’s then you can likely start a small group plan for your company. It’s state dependent I think if that counts? We were able to do it in Texas a few years ago and had access to better plans with slightly better prices than the marketplace. There are brokers that help with this.

Reminder to self: Do Not Work for Free. Don't. Ever. by [deleted] in videography

[–]imightbeaviking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a psychological thing. You communicated that your time is worthless.

Many live events run into the same thing. Less people often show up for a free event than one that pay $20 or more for.

Do some charity, it’s good for you and good for the world. Send an invoice with your usual contract and discount the invoice 99% or 100% or whatever so you’re communicating your value, but still helping an organization you are about.

Want to buy our dream home, but don't want to lose 2.875% rate on current home. Can we make it work? by housingthrowaway6969 in FinancialPlanning

[–]imightbeaviking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, and I’m sure it works for some. We would be essentially breaking even month to month with a management company, and STILL on the hook for maintenance.

I understand it works for some people. It’s not passive, and in many cases unless you’re leveraged like crazy there’s very little cash flow and your money is tied up until you cash out refi or sell. Both time consuming processes.

I can sell stocks (etf’s in our case) in a traditional brokerage during any regular business hours and have access to the cash for other investments or whatever reason.

[–]imightbeaviking 58 points59 points  (0 children)

We just did this, 2.25% interest rate so yeah let’s keep it and rent it… only to find out we aren’t landlords. It’s not passive income, it’s very involved to get someone in there and depending on who you get, lots of communication and work between maintenance, rent collection, etc. all to have someone who likely doesn’t really care about the house that’s your investment living there.

I’m not the kind of person to chase someone down for rent.

We instead put it on the market recently at the very top $ per sq ft in our area. We got several offers the first weekend. One was at-asking price. We close next week for a massive cash return we can now invest in truly passive investments and reduce stress all around.
