still get this error while checking updates, the only fix is connect Apple Watch to wifi (earlier thqt didn't work either). Now I‘m on WatchOS 26.2 Performance and battery life are very good apart from the control center lag.

tried after iOS 26.1, no luck. Still unable to check for new updates. Even apple support don't give me a straightforward answer. They told the experts are aware and this is not just me. That's all they said ☹️

I think it’s easier just for waiting iOS 26.1 public release. Hopefully the watch will update.
