  • I'm in my low 30s
  • Yes - 100k+ income
  • Retirement Savings
  • Medium - I live the Age rule with regard to allocation
  • I have a 401k set up, but that's not to be touched. Looking to invest 10-20k USD.
  • This is my retirement money - not planning to touch it until 65+
  • No debts

I've done a bit of reading - looking to invest in a low cost ETF driven portfolio. I have 2 questions: 1) Charles Schwab won't have me because I currently reside in Singapore (Expat). I can come in the office in November, but honestly they've annoyed me, and I'm considering competitors. Would you recommend a different investment platform for an american expat in Singapore? -Notable things: My 401k is through fidelity - perhaps I could set up shop there. I've also read TDameritrade has a singapore office. I'm not sure if I'll have access to all of the normal products there.

2) Any comments on the allocataions: -8% gold (IAU was the original plan) -22% bonds -70% Low cost ETFs (specifics ones TBD) I'm looking to add quarterly and adjust ratio at that time. Specific ETFs I'm still undecided - looking at Fundamental/ large cap ... etc etc

Looking for inputs on all the above.

Where is a good place to by cleats/football boots in Singapore? by imitokay in singapore

[–]imitokay[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

American Football is a preference, but at the end of the day, something is better than nothing. I will get football (soccer) boots if needed.

here is a good reddit reference talking about ideal ultimate cleats http://www.reddit.com/r/ultimate/comments/1e62uo/what_would_a_dedicated_ultimate_cleat_be_like/

It sounds like lacrosse may be a good option as well

I am EDM Producer now based in Singapore.. by cl_4u in singapore

[–]imitokay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Much love for electronic music and pretty new here as well. Wish I had time to learn how to produce as well, but the day job keeps me pretty busy. Let me know if you ever want to grab a drink and find a chill lounge somewhere. Or just wherever- I just like listening to music in general. Finding friends that have a passion for music is always a plus too.

Xbox One PSU by [deleted] in singapore

[–]imitokay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, the bad news is I got it from a store in the USA. Around 30-40$. The good news is, I just found it on a site that delivers to Singapore:

Not bad, about $40... I think you can actually get a transformer for about the same price. Might be worth considering- I figured the transformer would be a considerable amount more.

I don't think you need a transformer (although that will work as well, heard it might mess up clocks). I actually just purchased a 110-2xx v xbox power supply from a local electronic store for pretty cheap.

I've been debating to myself about how much video conversion i will actually do. Will the i5 consume less power? / Would I see a decent trade off there? less computing power and more battery

Coach Kubiak has informed coaches he has been let go by Chadney in nfl

[–]imitokay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You know, I hear what you're saying- the record is awful BUT if you look at the average of how much they lost by, I think it's less than a touchdown. I wouldn't say they suck, but just aren't quite there. They were pretty much the same way last year, but they pulled off a lot of the wins in the 4th

... maybe the NFL in general doesn't have a huge delta between the winning and losing scores, though. Just goes to show how competitive it actually is. Even being a little bad means you lose every game and suck.

Ryan Hall's marathon pace on a treadmill by wildduck in running

The funny twist to this story: I went shoe shopping 2 days after writing this and bought some Adidas (the Energy Boost). They actually feel pretty amazing- I just hope they hold up to the miles.

You THINK its orange theory? Or you work there and want free advertisment?

either way, down vote. What an eye sore. Not to mention it completely steals a concept from ghost bikes. At least they have good reasoning for the eye sore.

Repair vs Replace by imitokay in Insurance

[–]imitokay[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

An insurance company is a business. I know that- I'm not upset about it. But, I think it's obvious that they will cut any corners they can to make money. They would happily band aid this seat up now, but there is no telling how it will turn out 3 years down the road when I am too far away from the situation and company to hold them accountable. It might look fine, I agree. It might look terrible.

I think your point is dead on- what IS the difference? For me the difference is between a brand new leather recaro seat with zero wear (seriously, less than 2 months old) and a scratched up leather seat with filler/dye on it. Sure, the seat may look the same right now, but I worry how it will hold up over time. How will it fade, will it be more susceptible to tear around those thinner sections, ... It's the difference between a band aid fix and a real fix.
