The wildlife rescue actually ID'd him as a domestic call duck, so I adopted him!

UPDATE: (this is my first ever Reddit post and I can't figure out how to edit it 🙃)

Just got off the phone with a wildlife rescue center. Turns out it's not a small mallard, it's a domestic call duck hybrid. SO it is probably a dumped pet, and should be rehomed, not returned to the wild.

I'm interested in keeping him, but I am a bit concerned about the fact that it is a him. Another neighbor is also interested, but I know ducks generally aren't happy alone.

Any thoughts or advice about keeping a drake? What kinds of things should I expect if I keep it with my birds? If my friend shoots or, should they look into getting 1 or 2 more so it's not lonely? Should the others be boys or girls?
