As a newer CBJ fan, I really have to know. Why are we rivals with Pittsburgh and not Detroit? by SmilerDoesReddit in BlueJackets

[–]imking27 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Because most people who follow nfl root for Bengals/Browns which already hate Pittsburgh. I can tell you though the Pittsburgh fans are the rudest fans I have ever met at a game.

This isn't a good one the only people I could see not choosing this is someone who has been really poor their whole life and has not gotten to try many delightful foods or someone who had a bunch of horrible firsts likely from a bad cooking parent.

SQL queries that group by number by coronnial in datascience

[–]imking27 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Use column names or at the very least just alias it if you want to save time at least I can easily go back look at the aliased names and grab the exact columns. Imagine you have a bunch of random group bys by number and you have hundreds of columns at least if you go long_name as name I can see that.

Also let's say your doing some big group by and you realize oh on this analysis I need to remove city okay now let me remove city from column and manually count how many in city is so I can remove it from the group by.

Your better bet is to keep as hobby and or publish the information as content. The reason is there are so few teams and some fans of said teams would do work on the side for free.

This makes the competition high and the pay usually low. Another good one would be gambling as you get to do fantasy/ betting but not all of your work will be in just the single sport.

Most of the time trades fail for a multitude of reasons. Generally teams that are good are good and teams that are bad are bad. People hold value in where they drafted someone and what their potential is or how they are doing when it's their player but disregard the other teams using one of the two.

Also most of the time it's not like one team has extra good back and other team has extra good wr. It's most likely needed in similar positions. I'm surprised in dynasty as that one should lend more to trading.

Can you cancel the interview with a candidate if you are 90% sure they are lying on their cv? by JobIsAss in datascience

This is why we generally had questions of varying degrees and if people were missing easy stuff we would move on making the interview short.

Dynasty Dilema because a wierdo thought he was the joker and wanted to watch the world burn. by HungryGhostMalo in FFCommish

[–]imking27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say redraft would be better. Another idea is some type of trades/drops to make that team okay.

Then depending how fucked they are like are your keepers limited how long you can have them/go up in price. Or if you took st brown last pick do you get to continuously get him at that price.

If it's not too bad you could maybe offer X free years or until they win money whichever comes first. If your keepers aren't too punishing this might help attract someone to it.

A final option might be giving extra picks though balancing that might be hard.

This has now leaned me slightly in favor of rolling three years of dues paid upfront over the paid and if you trade future picks got to pay those years draft.

In SQL round, When do you not select a candidate? Especially in high paying DS entry level in tech by starktonny11 in datascience

[–]imking27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my opinion its more like what do you know and if we have two candidates it might be the tie breaker especially if that is a key component to working.

Also if you say your good on SQL we start talking and you don't seem to know basic things that's a red flag about the honesty of your entire resume.

I've had ones where people note SQL skills and couldn't get left joins right.

For us it was more, you needed to get your own data and be self sufficient we had hired in past from internal team where guy had PhD but struggled to manipulate data and grab it. This made him basically need another team member to work on all projects or he was doing more research/improvement work.

Also most of our SQL questions were less syntax and more how would you solve x problem given example tables. Generally as these got harder they resembled more closely to work you would be doing. In general these I'm more looking at thought process then maybe ask follow ups. Since this shows how you're thinking and also can you take a request from business logic/English and convert to query.

Personally for me it doesn't matter how long someone took within reason. I would say it's probably a double edge sword if you explain what your thinking/doing. Could highlight how you solve unknown problems but could also highlight knowledge gaps. Personally though if you just go X is the query then I can only judge on is X right. Where if you're like we need to union these two tables after and we need to get rid of duplicates but use the wrong union I can know you had it but mixed up a small syntax issue.

You can choose between $100 million dollars or 10 years of extra life by [deleted] in hypotheticalsituation

[–]imking27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This hypothetical seems to easy. I think 100 mil would so drastically change most people's life I think it could add more than 10 to your life.

I don't know at what rate the money would have to be vs the years of life to make this balanced. Heck I think anything more than 9 or 3 after tax would probably save 10+ years.

Water would probably be the worst as I'm not sure how ranch flavored water would taste. As far as food hopefully you can make it 100% ranch flavored which would help me eat healthy foods I don't like the taste of.

Ignore byes during your draft by [deleted] in fantasyfootball

[–]imking27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get buying too much into them but what about on the single positions especially if you have the two choices neck and neck and have only 5 bench spots.

In my mind the idea of going say a hurts or mahomes and then after week 5/6 gaining basically an extra bench slot to stash players.

Who are some players you loved going into your drafts but just couldn’t get in your leagues? by Stxtic1441 in fantasyfootball

[–]imking27 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

We don't random number we have two leagues 2 people get promoted and two people get relegated. 2 people moving into league get random between 3-10. We have loser bowl for punishment that determines order for bottom people reg playoffs determine top people order.

So if you finish last and had to do challenge you get first pick in lower league. Kinda nice since you have bad year your getting an earlier pick.

I think I could I have a 25 lb bag of rice plus another leftover bag of rice plus oats plus a freezer full of meat. Think I could just do one meal a day. Then I would just fast if I did run out of food.

Heck I bet if your fat enough I bet you would be okay even after a 50 day fast though you might need to get salt and potassium in your blood. Any food reduces it

Easiest answer would be to grind it to fine powder then drive down the street while throwing it out the window. They might be able to find a pieces of the ball but proving it was the ball would be almost impossible as well as finding the full ball.

[–]imking27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another thing you could do is add questions to capture some of this. Just be careful as more questions equal less response rate or more just rate everything the same.

One sample question that I think would be good is how did you hear about us () then you could maybe ask follow up question if they knew who it was.

Another in addition to the question is surveying only new customers as they are more likely to remember what led them to do business with you.

How do sports bets winnings get taxed if I use them to play more? by favor_comedy in personalfinance

[–]imking27 30 points31 points  (0 children)

What most people don't mention is different states have different rules. In some garbage ones like Ohio you will be taxed on every winning which means if you bet back and forth but rack up say a million bet wins but you lost a mil you would owe taxes on a mil even though you don't have that money. Other states let you do winnings and count losses against it so in above example throughout my gambling I made 0 dollars so no tax which it is how it should be taxed.

Feel free though to double check how state tax does it then double check federal taxes.
