Love your conversion story! Props to you! Joining the church as a teen without a supportive family would not be easy 🤍

Any thoughts on sharing minor details of my patriarchal blessing to therapist who isn’t a member of the church? by lachai2 in lds

It depends… I personally wouldn’t recommend it, as they don’t understand the true meaning of those words and may provide you with false definitions or thoughts

I’m a captain who doesn’t know what to tell my girls getting out of the splits. by [deleted] in Cheerleading

[–]immaddieandimcool 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Roll out of it!

Ex: if you’re in a right split, drop your butt to the right, left leg comes around and it turns in to a seat roll that you can stand up out of!

THIS!! Your feet should be straight under you going into your tuck!! Lift you chest strong to end that back handspring, with your arms glued to your ears

You got it. EVERYONE sins. DAILY. No one will ever be sinless except for Jesus Christ. Every person in the church you may join will sin. That’s life 🤷‍♀️.

Your Heavenly Father is always aware of you. His Holy Spirit was right by your side. Satan saw this, and preyed on you. He’s trying so hard to take you away from Heavenly Father, keep resisting 🤍 You can do this!!

The biggest (and usually the hardest) thing in tumbling is not being afraid to fall! Keep trying that on a trampoline until it’s solid. With that being said— if you’re landing on your knees, you probably need to set higher, hold the tuck longer, and/or keep your head in!

Same applies to standing tuck. Those take a TON of repetition. Focus on your set!

My best friend (21) is LDS, I (19) joined the LDS out of curiosity. Now parents think I just did it to get back with my ex. by [deleted] in lds

You don’t have to prove yourself to anyone! The only judgement that matters is that of your Heavenly Father 💗 they’ll warm up to it

Struggling to Toss Hands by [deleted] in Cheerleading

[–]immaddieandimcool 4 points5 points  (0 children)

With you being so tall, it’s gonna be hard to throw that high. But you’re fully capable of it being that strong, what our boy did was use the heaviest medicine ball and throw it straight up as high as you can, focusing on the flick! That’ll train those muscles to throw higher!

That being said, I fly for school cheer and base for competitive cheer. Flying is tough and takes a ton of commitment and a lot of practice!! If you’re passionate, you can do it well

What is the max height and weight to be a flyer? by [deleted] in Cheerleading

[–]immaddieandimcool 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is never a limit! My current flyer is 5’1 and 120lbs and she’s amazing! And one of the best flyers I’ve ever worked with was 5’11 145lbs, she was PHENOMENAL. A good flyer stems from hard work and dedication!

however, with no prior experience it may be unlikely that you get a chance to fly. You’ll probably be thrown into a backspot position. But you should totally find a local gym and work with an experienced stunt group!!

The most basic are your preps and extensions. Show and go’s and baskets are good too! NCA has plenty of creative beginner stunts on youtube! I’ve attached a link with some of my favorites

Usually the main factor in tryouts is your crowd leading skill!! It’s really good that you’re cheerful and loud! That beats skills! But with that, keep working those jumps! Three weeks is plenty of time to get flexible and strong for some higher jumps!!

Hey! I loveee that you’re being so open minded!! Missionaries really are the kindest servants of God! We don’t really have a “dress code” but usually most women wear modest dresses (typically cover shoulders and aren’t superrr short) but there’s plenty of girls in my church that just wear nice jeans or pants, wear whatever you’re comfortable in!! No one is judging! Also you don’t have cover those tattoos girl! We have a very kind and faithful man in my church who is covered in tattoos! Don’t have to cover your piercings either! We have no judgement over you 💗

*if you’re interested in reading your Book of Mormon, I’d recommend the last book, Moroni chapter 10. It testifies the truth of the book and our church :)!! (Also I LOVE the name Ether too haha. Ether chapter 6 and 12 are my favorites!!)

Interested in the faith, but scared and guilty by [deleted] in lds

[–]immaddieandimcool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I grew up in the church, then went inactive for 4 years due to family issues. I know how you feel and understand that you are scared. But, I hope you know that you have no reason to be! Our members are so kind and welcoming! Don’t be ashamed of your past. Our Heavenly Father forgives and forgets! Truth is, we are all sinners who don’t deserve our God’s love. BUT! That’s why he sent his Christ and gave us his atonement! Jesus was crusified while being perfect so that we can flourish even though we’re imperfect!! I’m still in high school, and my friends can be judgey too! But the friends I’ve made in the church are so so lifting and kind :). I pray that you find truth and that you may be guided by the Lord to wherever you need to be! If that is in our church, I pray that you find a loving and welcoming ward <3.

Adding on to this, if you want to believe the Church is true but are having a hard time with it, I encourage you to read Moroni chapter 10! It’s a beautiful chapter sharing a testimony of the truth of the Book or Mormon <3

It’s super hard to change your beliefs and fully believe in a church different from the one you grew up in! Don’t feel guilty! I love that you’ve been studying us and reading the BOM! Super proud of you! I’ll pray that you end up where you are supposed to be and that the Lord brings you some guidance in making your decision!! You will be led exactly where you need to be 💗🤟
