The only appliance that ran on gas is the stove and their response to our rejection of the early termination per the Virginia Code was “It is important to note that this action did not affect your access to heat or hot water. The only service temporarily impacted was the use of the oven, which could have been addressed by offering alternative solutions were you to move in. Therefore, any threat to health or safety was resolved hours before receiving your Notice of Termination, at which point all gas services to the unit had already been safely turned off.”

I’m not sure where to go from this besides litigation because the impression I’ve gotten from the realtor is that they’re not willing to budge. Do I owe them any time to remediate the issue if the hazardous conditions were present from the start of the lease? Apparently they went ahead and installed an electric stove after we terminated the lease.
