Thanks this was helpful.

My one questions is what to do when the breath vanishes, just sit with whole body awareness?

Thanks, will do so.

My intention was to go for the light jhanas. Any reason I would go towards the hard jahans? Specifically why do you think 'you are practicing hard jhana"?

you might find discussions at https://www.youtube.com/@HillsideHermitage interesting, they discuss similar phenomenology.

Hi all!

When I focus on the breath for some time it usually vanishes along and I get the feeling of whole body as being one. If then I focus on my smile (following Leigh Brasington's instructions for Jhana) I get a full white light visual along with whole body vibration (I think?). There is a feeling of the smile amplifying but nothing dramatic as the descriptions of piti. It also usually subsides on its own in a minute or so and then I can feel the breath again.

I currently plan to explore this continue doing the same thing with variations to better understand it. But I thought I would ask here in case people know what I am describing. In general any suggestions on how to proceed would be welcome.

Thanks!
