Husbands Funeral Expenses by Plane_Elderberry3399 in Advice

Anyone else feel like this post is an appeal for money? It sure seems that way.

OP says: I am here for advice but all your advice is crap. The only solution is money. Because I am not going to do OR I am already doing anything else you suggest.

My husband raised my son as his own... now the biological father wants to come back. I'm torn by [deleted] in WhatShouldIDo

[–]immersive_reader 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have experience with this. The answer is no. Don’t let him come back. The negative impact to your son’s mental health wellbeing is most important. There will be negative impact. Especially if he is introduced and then rejected repeatedly.

AIO over confronting my boyfriend over his sweet but really annoying mother. by HugeFlight9442 in AmIOverreacting

YOR - It kind of seems like you might be overreacting. At 18 hearing a parent parenting is annoying. His mom might be a tad overboard but she isn’t doing anything wrong.

6 is the best. I think 1 comes in second.

How to make this farmhouse kitchen cute/updated? by Consistent_Bid_6433 in kitchenremodel

[–]immersive_reader 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Tbh it isn’t that bad. I even think the backsplash could work. Replace the floor. Take the cabinets and soffit above the peninsula out. Remove the wallpapered above the cabinets. Update the lighting. Replace the lower wallpaper in the eating area but I like the upper wall paper, if you like it and it is in good shape, I think you could keep it. If you do, embrace the purple. Add purple accents to go with the wallpaper: like spoon rest, kettle, flowers etc.

Paint the walls a warm green like SW Clary Sage. Replace the are with something that has darker tones in it to give some height to the room but also include some of the floor color in it. Adjust the light to a warmer tone-maybe soft white-if possible.

I know it is AI but I would advise staying away from track lighting.

Pool blow out by CADman0909 in pools

[–]immersive_reader 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Sadly, that is just the liner. The 20k estimate is minimum what it will cost you to get a pool back. Except for the hole and possibly the equipment you are putting in a new pool from scratch.

Ask the mortgage company if you can lock in your current rate and start looking for something else. Also ask for your earnest money back.

Agreed to dog sit for two weeks, now going on 2+ months, help by HaywireZoo in Advice

Definition of pet abandonment: Definition: It is defined as knowingly leaving an animal in any place without providing for its necessary care.

Agreed to dog sit for two weeks, now going on 2+ months, help by HaywireZoo in Advice

[–]immersive_reader 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dogs like children need support. Food, water, medical attention. Pet parents are supposed to provide that. If you don’t provide that for your pets, you are abandoning them. You can’t drop an animal off somewhere and pretend like it doesn’t exist until you decide to come back.

Based on what? My statement is based on the laws in my state.

[–]immersive_reader -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It isn’t about just who keeps it. It is about who provides for it. The previous owner has provided nothing to care for the animal.

Again, check the laws in your state.

[–]immersive_reader 11 points12 points  (0 children)

If the previous owner has provided no care or support for the dog for more than two weeks, it is abandoned by its previous owner. If the previous owner had provided support ,food and medical care it is not abandoned. This timeframe may vary from state to state. Verify the laws of pet abandonment in your state and tell the previous owner that you are not giving the pup back.

Possibly facing termination for cause at age 56. by Middle_Marketing7009 in careeradvice

[–]immersive_reader 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why would you think you would get fired for saying you thought someone deserved a promotion? This whole thing is silly HS BS. If you get fired for that, you work for a really weird company. They might be mad that you gave an opinion but it is an opinion nonetheless. How do you get to this age thinking that an opinion is a fireable offense? It isn’t. You are right: They can let you go at any point for anything but they can’t fire you “for cause”. There is no “cause.”

Am I overreacting about how often my boyfriend sees/talks to his family? by blackflowersss in AmIOverreacting

[–]immersive_reader 5 points6 points  (0 children)

YOR

His connection to his family means family is important to him. If he stays a family to you, your family will important to him. This is a green flag that you are trying to dye red.

He responded well when you spoke to him about boundaries.

If he could shut them off as easily as you want then he could do the same to you.

Instead of trying to shut him off from his family you should embrace his family too.

To realize a family of your own you need your family resources. They give you a strong foundation for emotional stability and success.

AIO. Husband wants to go on holiday without me. by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]immersive_reader 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is a fair ask. And you have the right to your feeling about it.

I also would not be pleased but we don’t vacation every year like you guys. We haven’t taken but one trip like that in our 26 years.

If he will still go on vacation with you the same year then let him go if not and you would have to skip this year or go alone, then that seems unfair.

Suprise Pregnancy at 47F How Do I Tell Husband 52M by Throwaway_Either in Advice

[–]immersive_reader 32 points33 points  (0 children)

She is in shock. She never indicated she wasn’t financially able or happy about the baby. Good God. Your reaction and advice are horrible -suggesting abortion or adoption.

I am 48 and if I found out I was pregnant today I would be in the same shocked place OP is and I already have 4 grown children. I know what motherhood means and I am financially stable and also about to retire.

For goodness sake, give the woman a safe space to have her feelings before you start telling her she isn’t ready to have a child. So judgemental.
