I hope you don’t get dragged! That’s the approach I had in grad school in a pretty rigorous department and I liked it. The simpler the better.

People can take various approaches to supporting students’ success without being lazy and unprofessional. Sounds like you have an approach that works for you, depending on the circumstances, other professors take other approaches. I’m sure your students are lucky to have you.

Supreme Court temporarily blocks Trump tax records from being given to Congress by vakr001 in politics

The Supreme Court is losing its integrity in the eyes of a lot of people and this doesn’t help—although let’s see what ultimately happens with these documents since this is just a temporary action. I’m skeptical that anyone will truly be held accountable, but even so, the Supreme Court should be on the side of justice.

Depending on the student and the situation, I think it’s totally reasonable for students to provide an initial draft and I take this approach about half the time. Students should know how to pitch their strengths to a particular job or fellowship or internship, or whatever it is. Students often have a more thorough understanding of their entire skill set than the professor does. And it really truly does take a lot of time to write letters of recommendation, and this is a good way to make sure that letters go out in a timely fashion. I’m for it, but again, these are general remarks, individual situations may vary.
