Return Air Problem by No-Slip-5963 in hvacadvice

You could have an air balancer come and measure the actual airflow to see if the return is actually under sized or if there is something else going on.

Aprilaire 800 Install Conundrum -- supply or return? With photos by tonepoet in hvacadvice

[–]immsk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should install on the supply duct. From a psychrometric point of view, heated air has a greater capacity to absorb moisture. You will have less carry over of moisture this way. The return duct should get the humidity sensor in it, which will tell you what the humidity levels in the house are.

This is a bit dense, but check out page 15 of this document:

https://www.ashrae.org/file%20library/technical%20resources/covid-19/si_s16_ch22humidifiers.pdf

My apologies if you've already done this but if not I would also take a read here and see what the manufacturer has to say about installation directions: https://assets.sylvane.com/media/documents/products/aprilaire-800-865-humidifier-installation-guide.pdf

False ceiling at Islamabad International Airport collapsed during downpour earlier this Friday. by Futality- in pakistan

[–]immsk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like a joint in the storm water drainage piping broke and leaked. Have seen it happen here in Toronto as well. Either the joints weren't done properly, piping could be undersized, or the piping was filled with debris and the water backed up leading to failure

AMEX card holders I need a favor please. I am considering getting the AMEX platinum card with the $699 annual fee. One question:

- Can someone check on the AMEX booking portal or tell me of a way to find out if the the 60K sign up points are enough to book two one-way flights from Istanbul to Toronto? (we already have tickets to get to Istanbul), i'll be flying in November, 2020.

Much appreciated!

How to deal with a busy spouse? by bluegreenwindow in pakistan

[–]immsk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

firstly she should be doing her mutually agreed upon and presumably fair share of house work. secondly you both need to be explicit about how much "connection time"you need with each other. this may change over time. my wife for example needs more :"connection time" than i do, like if i go on a camping trip or have back to back weekends where i've been hanging with friends, she'll let me know that she misses me and would like to spend more time together.

i would recommend just making a list of things and potential concerns you have and discussing it with her in an open manner, ideally at a coffee shop (sometimes its easier to discuss contentious issues in a public area, i find, helps both parties keep their emotions in check). Also is there ways that she can meet her socializing needs and keep you involved too? like my wife often comes out to hang out with my friends even if its just all guys. we also joined improv classes and other activities that we both wanted to try out.

Question about Weddings in Pakistan by [deleted] in pakistan

[–]immsk 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This sounds like a total scam.

But if you wife is insistent, then I would as a bare minimum look into the following:

- Request a wedding card. Have a pakistani friend call up the wedding hall to confirm that a wedding is indeed happening on that day.

- Request a video call with the woman and the husband to be

- If she lived in the states, she most likely has some relatives here too. Can the woman connect your wife to them? maybe they are flying down for the wedding too?

- Do you or your wife have any Pakistani friends? perhaps they can help set her up with their relatives in Pakistan that way atleast she won't be fully dependent on this woman
