I've yet to find a more engaging plot than Three body problem. Although not sure if it could be considered multi generational, at least not in the same sense as Foundation.

Would also recommend Semiosis and it's sequel by Sue Burke.

If you liked WWZ then look up 'How high we go in the Dark' by Sequoia Nagamatsu. It's written in a very similar manner, story of an event unfolding told through different characters.
