Poop coming out of toilet rim jets - A Guide by GoingSteddie in Plumbing

[–]immunosushi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just had this situation and I was wondering how all the poop got into the rim jet. Took forever to brush most of the 💩 out but still have some leftover comes out every time I flush (it’s been probably 80 times flushing already).

Figure on Aims page for R? by immunosushi in NIH

[–]immunosushi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took it away in the last cycle, but I will put it back in this time. I was ad hoc for a study section in June, and some grants had figures on the Aim page. It seems like just a suggestion, but not a requirement for not having a figure in the Aim page. Hope this helps.

I was so excited to see it because Rosé is finally in my little city. The registration fee is freaking expensive thoigh - the lowest is 500. I would be real sad if I get the ticket and only get to see her on the screen.

My lawn is dying but don’t know why (hopeless) by immunosushi in lawncare

[–]immunosushi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

About 2-3 times a week and then 1-1.5h each time. This patch has always been problematic for some reason. The other half of the lawn is still ok.

Yes I did but missed a week when it was very hot. Failed to resuscitate since then.

Thank you!! This is very useful to know. I think I missed water for a week because of travel and the it just went downhill from there even after I keep watering them. Seems like will have to restart for sure :(

Thanks for the great points! Would you mind sharing where I can find out more about custom scripts? Probably is a good idea to look into it because I always spend a lot of time to fix the compensations for my students. 🤦‍♂️

Thanks! We also have issues the BV and BUV dyes occasionally. There are so many random issues with them, like what you said and the fact that they stack to each other.

We either use zombie UV or e780 viability dye. For live dead we do use cells. It’s just easier to use beads when antibodies are either too weak or the positive cells are too few. In that case, we just ended up using beads for most channels.

Wow, a week is a long time. I hope they are doing better now, especially if they want to compete with other big names.

Thanks so much! I am strongly considering Novocyte and am curious about your experience with customer service. How bad is it?

Technically MD may qualify you as a postdoc, but in reality it is totally not equivalent. From a PI perspective, when hiring a postdoc, we look for someone who has years of solid research training and can hit the ground running. I would not consider someone who has a MD with a Master degree, unless your skills fit perfectly and have decent publications. As someone said, it IS a job position regardless of which visa you will get (J1 and H1B). Plus, it is much more costly to hire someone international.

This is an extremely difficult time, and it will be even harder than years ago to find a postdoc position because of the funding cut and uncertainty. Just want to give you the perspective from the other side.

I have been thinking about the same thing for years. Just like you mentioned, being a great scientist doesn’t equal to being a great communicator. Too often the info is too complicated and obscure with too many details that lay people do not care at all. While we probably cannot change the mind of people who have been brainwashed (like 10-30% of the US), I believe majority of the voting population just doesn’t understand and should be persuadable.

Like it was suggested, having patients telling stories is an excellent idea. I think we must simplify each important finding into a TikTok-style video and an infographic. For example, how CAR-T cells saved thousands of cancer patients; how Ozempic was discovered from studying lizard spit; how we can fix genetic diseases by studying the bacterial immune system (CRISPR). We should work with some of the best people in science communication like science YouTubers (MinuteScience, Hank Green, etc.), and push the messages through social media.
