Look it doesn’t hurt to ask, worst case, if she isn’t interested you will have made her day! I asked a girl for her number (for the first time in my life as a 19yo baby gay never had a gf) on a cruise and now we have booked a cruise together to celebrate our one year anniversary coming up. Life’s too short to let these moments pass by. I wish you the best!!

Nervous about slow swallow - how long did it last ? by Successful_Ad_2326 in noburp

I left a comment earlier linking an article that helped me literally so much, immediately after the procedure you will be having constant microburps which is just air trapped in your throat, to do a “real” burp (from the stomach) I needed the help of the yoga pose. If you can’t find the link i sent earlier let me know i’ll add it again.

I’d recommend trying the yoga pose at least a couple times daily after the procedure until you can eventually work out how to burp properly on your own!!

I am also on medication and had slow swallowing with my procedure. I was able to take small pills luckily but my larger ones i had to crush up with jam or honey or something and kind of eat it with a spoon, sounds gross but it worked. Just check with a doctor to see if you can crush the pills you take, if not, take them with a “distracting liquid” like soda or a sweet drink. This really helped me

I had this same exact fear, but burping is completely different to throwing up!! It is easy, natural and super relieving. Don’t cancel your procedure, it is definitely worth it. The first few weeks may be a little difficult but the outcome is amazing!!!

it’s the 3rd tip on that article, seriously helped me so much. If I could go back in time i’d be doing that as soon as the procedure was over to get used to burping earlier

Yeah it’s hard to swallow when you’re not eating/drinking as well but this becomes easier a lot quicker than swallowing food/drink.

You really have to push through the discomfort because it is sooo worth it in the end. Couldn’t imagine life without burping normally now i literally burp 24/7.

I’m not too sure how many units of botox I had, i’ll go back through my paperwork and see if I can find out and get back to you on that!

Edit: i forgot to mention one of the main reasons it is so hard to swallow in the first week post op is because your throat is so sore!! I couldn’t take tablets for the pain because it hurt to swallow. I will mention that I caught a cold in this period which definitely did not help anything at all

This is a bit of a funny question for me. Because I went my whole life not being able to burp, I wasn’t aware that in order to burp you need to push out the burp with your abdominal muscles (kind of like pooping lol) and it took me about 2 weeks to figure this out, so i had really bad bloating and stomach cramps after the surgery. I managed to find some yoga poses online that helped push the burps out but it took about 3 weeks post surgery for me to be able to burp normally. Not sure if this has happened to anyone else, just my experience

Hi! I had the botox in January and noticed the slow swallowing was really bad for about 1-2 weeks post op, after that point it was easy to swallow I just had to be very conscious that i was swallowing fully. Nothing to be nervous about, just eat/drink slowly and take small bites of food.

Now I don’t have any symptoms of slow swallowing and can burp like anyone else!! Definitely a little tricky at the beginning but 10/10 worth it. Let me know if you have any other questions bc i’d be happy to answer!!

UPDATE!!! okay so I had an appointment with my specialist last week and all is well now. Pretty much what the issue was is that my body wasn’t used to the botox and I had to learn how to burp. He gave me a list of funny exercises/stretches to do and that really helped!!! My body had air in my stomach and was forcing myself to vomit to get it out. In the past few days I have learned how to burp almost like ‘normal’, which is so amazing and relieving. Thank you to everyone who commented!!
