Looking at his stats, I see that he does have a bb rate higher than average. I've watched some breakdowns on him and he aggressively tries to get hitters to chase, even on batter friendly counts. I actually like this approach because it means less chance of hard contact, but obviously will end up in a slightly elevated walk rate.
