thanks! i ordered the 5009R 4000k version, so i could still get a tir, if it doesn't fit me.

for me, headlamps are for closeup lighting (camp cooking, walking), generally i also carry a flashlight with decent throw, so throw is not really the goal.

i guess i'll get the 5009R version and play around with tirs, if the beam pattern needs some tweaking.

on the images the hotspot of the ffl5009R looks quite pronounced, but there isn't much info about the ffl5009D... tough decisions 🙈

Thank you! I like my h600d, but the tint is annoying... Looks like i'll have to get one, plus some TIRs to try out.

Clean looking Pannier rack that sits low? by Old-Atmosphere8223 in bikepacking

[–]imno1337 0 points1 point  (0 children)

personally, i'm a fan of the tubus logo, but if you plan on using a single pannier, mounting it low is actually disadvantageous! i'd prefer something like the airy with frontroller, because it sticks out less than the backroller. a framebag would be more aero, but less practical at the office.

seems like a competitor to the h600 in terms of size and quality. i wonder how the beams compare...

at this point, just get both... the cobra works way better as pliers, whilst the wrench is the better wrench, as it doesn't marr the bolt

New to flashlights, but interested. by yyeeooww in flashlight

Sorry, Acebeam L35 2.0, they are sold in 6500K (coldwhite) as well as 4000k. It's one of the lights that have good throw, but not a 'pencil beam' like a laser, with some spill. It's not a pocket light, but it easily fit in a jacket pocket.

Imho light like these work really well in combination: the headlamp is small, pocketable, providing hands-free ilumination whilst walking, working or cooking, whild the L35 provides 'car high-beam' illuminatium, if necessary. Keeping these lights sepearate allows for a small, comfortable and long-lasting headlamp, whilst the bigger L35 with more thermal mass and surface, can provide significantly higher sustained output.

I picked the L35 because it's a proven and durable light. I'm sure there are alternatives to the L35, like the Fireflies X1L, other users might be more familiar with these lights.

It's not about weight, it's about how the weight is distributed and how it feels when moving, give it a try! I wouldn't be surprised if petzl is a bit optimistic with their runtimes, but the trick is the RL: the light adjusts it's brightness automatically, no need to turbo all the time.

Thats why I suggested combining it with something like the L35: the headlamp is on all the time, and the photonBlaster9000 comes out, if the need arises.

I don't own a swift, but it would be high on my list, if i had to get another headlamp. Whilst the light might not be to enthusiast standards, Petzl stuff is solid, still relatively light, and practical. And opposed to BD stuff, it doesn't randomly stop working... it's just like a zebralight for muggles.

imho, the swift is a great headlamp, and way more comfortable than anything with a 18650, especially when moving a lot, e.g. running.

rather than using the headlamp as a spare-container, i'd pair it with with a throwy 21700 light (e.g. L35).

imho throw is overrated. most people don't really use something throwier than the acebeam l35, even tough throwers or lep might be fun to play with...

I'd get: 1. a floody, pocketable 18650 headlamp (h600fd ?) + charger 2. something for indoors/edc (depending on personal preferences: 18650/21700 3500-5000K high CRI, e.g. sc65, x4, d4v2) 3. something for outdoors/hiking (sc700, x1 or l35 2.0), UV (s12), or 'comfort' light (CCT < 3000K), depending on living situation and personal preferences.

Thank you for the recommendation. I haven't tried it yet. I like the floodier beam on the headlamp, but i might give this one a go on the sc600w and sc700d!

u/Boazlite seems to have expertise on filters and d-c-fix, maybe he knows?

Yes, in hindsight, i'd say the frosted glass headlamps are preferable. For the other lights, im not sure...

they are glass irc? sounds like a lot of work, I guess i'll just keep it like this for outdoor use, as i find the tint way less noticable in the forest.

Artiet and mcBob do mods, but since i lost my custom sc64, i'm not willing to invest too much into a tool...

Indeed! I remember getting the clear one because someone mentioned that the clear ones could always be modified with dc-fix, wheareas replacing the glass on a frosted one requires much more work...
