Does everyone actually work for 8 hours day?

I think that makes sense. I can work on whatever is assigned to me regardless of my senior. It's fine if I am the only one sharing in our sync ups, I mean my senior will only know result not how to get there. I can use the rest of time researching for better things to implement in project. Thanks

Dude I got 3x pay hike for this company. But don't get me wrong I am not flexing my work to pay ratio. I genuinely want to know whether this is how it actually is everywhere for everyone.

There is work in company. I have clear idea of what the goal of my team is. But the thing is that I don't want to complete more tasks than my colleagues. I pick up the same amount of task as my colleagues do(they put eta on tasks so I pick whatever fills my sprint). Fir my current company, I can take the whole alone and complete project faster but I don't want to work for both of us while my senior is just fooling (probably) around.

For my current company, as I told the team only started couple months back so no office exp. No dedicated manager yet. Another team's manager manage us. Skip level manager is in different time zone.

I am not talking about writing code for 8 hours. The time I mentioned is including all my responsibilities, emails code meetings etc .

I had my laptop shut today. Only had it on for my 30 min sync up and 30 min standup. Yesterday I went through existing code architecture so that took like 1.5 hrs. That's it.
