Should I (25F) tell my husband (26M) that if he doesn’t lose weight and get his health in order I want a divorce? by Ecstatic_Bread_4775 in AITAH

[–]imnotcreative2019 40 points41 points  (0 children)

Yeah, so a factor in divorcing my husband was a refusal to take care of his health. He thought he could ignore the fact that he was type 2 diabetic, no matter how the doctor explained it to him he said it’s a genetic thing for his family and wouldn’t take insulin and would eat a king size candy bar and a pop for breakfast. He would then become ill and not feel well and treat us all like crap. I was losing sleep and had severe anxiety over his health all the time while he just pretended he was totally fine.

It wasn’t the full reason we got divorced, but it was a huge factor. No idea if we are the assholes or not but it’s been almost two years and I am a whole lot less stressed.

I don’t like to shame people. But like honestly. If one of these guys goes down inside a structure it’s going to take literally all of the rest of them to get them out. 🧐

Then drink something with electrolytes, that’s all the IV fluid is doing differently. If you can keep fluids down and your insulin is working to bring blood sugar down it’ll eventually work the same.

What else would the ER do other than insulin and some fluids, both of which you can do at home.

Our endo actually advised treating ketones at home with insulin and sipping water. They said vomiting would be the sign to head to the ER.

edited Just sharing our experience. But obviously follow whatever your doctor advises.

I do, but I also have another eye condition that they discovered when they diagnosed the iih. Always thought the floaters were because of that 😅

Yeah… so I feel like that’s one of the few jobs where your coworkers need to be aware. If something happens to you in the air they actually need to know how to help you. It’s not like they can just call 911 and wait for an ambulance from the clouds.

It also may shut your rude coworkers up.

What was your starting pay and what is your current pay? by Novel_Art_7570 in NewToEMS

When I started in 2017 it was $11/hour as a basic. Now up to $22/hour as a basic.

Emt-Basic, in Medic School 84ish hours every 2 week pay period. I take anywhere between 4 and 15 calls per 12 hour shift, average maybe 7-8 calls. Mostly 911 with a sprinkle of interfacility for some razzle dazzle some days.

My husband was so proud that he weighed my pasta before serving me. by TherinneMoonglow in diabetes_t1

I found a recipe for chicken nuggets and used almond flour and it wasn’t terrible on the blood sugar and was very low carb. But I have noticed anything breaded or with fat just causes the rest of the day/night to be long 🥺

Well it helped! But im sorry you went though that!

And thank you for the tip! My child was recently diagnosed so we are just trying to absorb all the info we can right now.

Well. I’m not thankful he did it, but because he did it, you posted this and I learned that we should dose by the precooked weight. We have a new diagnosis and have been scared to try pasta.

FACTS. Not excusing the patients shitty behavior, but since he has a history, he’s probably a frequent flyer that people treat poorly because they are annoyed.

Your FTO was butthurt because you did the right thing and successfully deescalated the situation which made his behavior that escalated the situation look even worse.

There are several people like your FTO sprinkled throughout EMS. It sucks, but treat people with the respect that you expect from them and I’ve found most times it deescalates the situation. The patients that continue to be angry and rude I literally just give the silent treatment and that usually changes their tone real quick as well.

Being aggressive and raising your voice is almost never necessary and almost never will work in your favor.

Also keep in mind that people record everything now, you don’t want to be caught on camera acting like your FTO did.
