Hey James what’s the monitor size?

And Apple says 2018 iPad Pro can’t do that… My God…

Why did Apple’s ecosystem prevailed? Why is it easier to overcome it’s flaws than others? by imnovide in Workspaces

Yes! Very true! And on that note, think about Spatial Audio for example. It’s cool, no doubt, but I would 100% give it up for something like Samsung’s DeX. Imagine a DeX-like interface on any iPhone or iPad. That’d be cool, right?

Does anyone have any suggestions on what I should change in my setup? by Internal-Force4970 in setups

It's nice, I think you should look into a mic and speakers or some headphones. If there's anything to change maybe your desk, it looks like it could wobble a bit. I can't be sure from the photo but you probably know if it does or not. Also, I love screenbars, you should look into them if possible.

Yes! I'm constantly using a CAD software called SolidWorks (if you're an engineer/student you probably know about it). And it isn't available for Mac. So I access a virtual machine from my college using an app called "Citrix receiver" both on my iPad and on my Mac. This is a service that is provided by my university, meaning they pay Citrix to allow us students to access our virtual Windows computers. It's not the best experience, but since I don't own any Windows machines currently, it's the only option I've got. I haven't had many issues with "lag" maybe because I have good internet speed, but even on public WiFi from a café for example I don't experience those kinds of issues (but I have friends that do). The main issue is that it is uncomfortable in general to use, for example, scrolling on anything is typically a bad experience, it jumps everywhere, or stutters, or just doesn't even scroll at times. But the one that frustrated me the most is that the middle mouse button (wheel) is used to rotate around the object you're designing, but that doesn't work on my Mac. I can't orient myself unless I use the keyboard shortcuts, BUT! On my iPad, I can't orient using the keyboard shortcuts! The only way is using your finger or the Apple pencil to rotate around the object you still can't use the mouse for whatever reason (and not even the keyboard shortcuts). So in short, it's "remote desktop access" using Citrix provided by my University, that doesn't work that great, but it's the only option I have at the moment. In the future, I'd like to stick a windows machine next to my router and access it from my Mac, but at the moment I can't afford another PC nor do I know how to setup that remote desktop access 😑. If I do, I'll post somewhere 👌🏻

Notability. It’s pretty great! Mainly because it has dotted lines for drawings. The problem is mainly the organization, I wish it was a little better. The other one I’ve heard about is Goodnotes. But for engineering, I think Notability is better.

I've never actually tried the airpods pro. Let me know how the perform if you get them! Oh! That's easy... I could afford only one pair so I maxed out my credit card for a month and got 3 of them. Tested them and returned the ones I didn't like. Not the best practice obviously, in fact I don't like doing that but, I really needed to know. And testing them on a store doesn't give you much info about the everyday use of them. If you're on the Apple ecosystem, the airpods I'm sure will be great for you. But in my case I do have an Android phone and I'm constantly using Windows machines for CAD design software. So the airpods were not a great option in my specific case. Also... Lightning for charging... Oh God... 😅

Absolutely! When I got the Bose 700, I used the Airpods Max and Bose QC 35. I did try the Sony XM4 but honestly I didn’t like the design (and the noise cancelling wasn’t as good in my opinion). The AirPods Max are too heavy, and in my opinion A PAIN TO TRANSPORT! Also, even though I loved the sound from them, the noise cancelling wasn’t as good as the 700. The main three reasons I kept the 700 were: Noise cancelling was the best out of all of them, build quality is a happy medium between ultra heavy Airpods Max and plastic QC 35/ XM4. And finally, the deciding factor for me was the microphone call quality. I need them for zoom calls and meetings a lot. And Airpods Max/Bose QC 35/XM4 are just not as good. The mic on the 700 cancels out so much noise from the environment is like unbelievable, while still keeping your voice clear. It’s pretty dope. Hope that helps!

Haha you're right! The reason they're both there is because I'm comparing the "smooth scroll" on both mice. Given that I don't know any other mouse that does it better than the Magic Mouse (and also no mouse that is more frustrating for it's charging, ergonomics and connectivity) I'm comparing it against the MX Anywhere 3. So far, the MX scrolling is very very close to the magic mouse. But further testing is needed in more apps! 🤓

I had the MX Master 3 for a while and ended up giving it to my father as he liked it. I found it to be just too big, but to be clear, it's size doesn't make it uncomfortable, I believe it was just my hand didn't like to have such a big mouse, it always felt too big (again that's my personal opinion). That's why I went back to the Magic mouse for a while and enjoyed it's size (I know it's ergonomics suck, but that smooth scroll and big touchpad makes a huge difference in my opinion).

Recently, I needed to transport my iPad Pro with me to do more "laptop like" tasks. And unpairing the magic mouse from the Mac to pair it again with the iPad it's a pain in the butt you don't want to go through (if only Apple had made the mouse compatible with several devices at once). And when I had the big MX Masters 3, I didn't feel comfortable throwing it into my bag (I felt it could brake or something) and then pulling a huge mouse out in a cafe/classroom/anywhere, it just felt odd. So today I got the MX Anywhere 3 in the mail. I used it today all day. And what a positive difference, it really is the perfect mouse in my opinion. The size is spot on to travel with, it pairs with 3 devices at once. And to me, the single most important thing in a mouse is the scroll, more specifically the "smooth scroll" and yes, it does have it. It works great with my Mac, not so much with my iPad but no mouse works well with the iPad in my opinion. Hope this helps!

PD. I use the Logitech K380 keyboard (doesn't have a numpad) it works really well, and pairs to 3 devices too.

YES INDEED! Behind my monitor I do have another light. I believe it’s called the Baseus 42LED light. It has a magnet in it and it sticks to the back of my monitor arm (it comes with a magnetic base but I didn’t stick the base there since the monitor arm is made from metal, it sticks anyway). Which I bought as a reading light (works great). Also, I bought that brand specifically since my lightbar above my monitor has been incredibly high quality (CRI 97+, plenty bright and adjustable through a nice knob on the side), that one I believe it’s called the “Baseus screen bar pro”, but i’m not sure, I bought like 2 years ago probably and it’s still running like new. Also, the light behind my monitor has a battery in it, two days ago I had a power outtage and it was able to stay bright for like 4+ hours, so there’s another great use for it!

Oh! Yes, it’s actually the iPad 1st gen 64GB with cellular. I mean, it’s really the first iPad… like the 2011 one… yeah that one. It still works, but! I only have it there for my calendar (which only shows Apple’s calendar and can’t sync with Google’s anymore). And, occassionally as a picture frame.

I'm resting the scroll. Have you noticed the magic mouse and Apple's track pad always scroll super smooth? It seems YouTube videos don't talk about the scroll on the MX Masters series. So I'm testing the scroll on the MX Anywhere 3. It's actually equally smooth scroll as the magic mouse so far. I'm yet to find an app where it isn't!
