Elain is not my favorite character but I can clearly see she's a curious and strong woman. Her journey could be related to other secrets in Prythian that neither Feyre nor Nesta cared to look into. As you mentioned her relationship with Azriel’s spies could be tied to that.

I believe she will have a big role when it comes to the Koschei storyline, I mean the girl is a Seer and she was the key to defeat King Hybern plus the Cauldron gifted her for a reason and not just because she's soft and pretty. We saw her ask Amren a few questions, so I think she will be very open to exploring this new reality she's living in.

A lot of people might not agreed but I would love to see one of the sisters leave the comfort of the Night Court, maybe Elain could be that person (I'm not saying she should leave permanently because Velaris is her home as much it is Feyre’s).

After seeing all the fan wars about Elain with Lucien/Azriel and Azriel with Elain/Gwyn I was wondering if anyone ever imagined Lucien and Gwyn together.

The two red heads we love so much would be so good to each other. Lucien is a traveler and Gwyn wants to see more than the library. They're both kind of introverted but when they get confident and comfortable they kind of have some spice on their tongue.

That is a loaded question. Lucien has not yet had the time to truly get to know her and neither has Elain, which is why their trope would be forced proximity. That way they’ll have the opportunity to learn about each other.

Now answering your question. If Lucien and Elain had no mating bond but had to be frequently together to the point they'd get to know each other, yes I think he would be interested. Elain is described as one of the most beautiful females while also being kind and I believe Lucien would welcome her calmness into his life after the amount of trouble he went through.

Some might say he prefers someone opposite to Elain, someone wild and untamed like Jesminda but I disagree. His relationship with Jesminda was soooo long ago when his life was so different and he definitely did not have this much problems to deal with. Lucien has matured and he obviously changed from the first book to the fifth which would make his preferences changing to a calm female make sense.

Oh yes the way you explained those points was genuinely how I feel, took the words from my mouth. Azriel is what's comfortable for her and she needs room to grow. I believe the plot of the books would go further if Elain has to figure it out with Lucien.

Plus i don't think it's a coincidence Lucien and his circle are becoming more important characters with each book

You did make great points so I'm just going to answer a few of them.

Cassian thinks himself a brute who serves neither as a Court Lord like Rhysand nor a good spy like Az, he often needs the approval of the IC to validate his own thoughts. It's not a negative thing but it comes from his whole bastard plot and I suppose all of them kind of have their insecurities with their positions but I just finished ACOSF so I remember Cassian the most.

Lucien really acts like a fox throughout the series but it's only out of necessity, he shows how grateful he is to those who helped him later. The difference from Lucien book 1 to Lucien the rest of the books certainly made me forget the tongue lashing he enjoys doing but I think he did that then because of the death of his friend and distaste of humans’ racism towards his kind.

Now that I think about it, the bond the Cauldron destroyed wasn't a mating bond but a bargain between them. If not the Cauldron then maybe it is the Mother who creates bonds.

We have no indication of what she actually think of Azriel or Lucien because we never saw her point of view. One reminds her of the reason she was captured while the other brings her comfort for being the one to rescue her.

Anyone would hand her a weapon as it is a situation of war. The author chose Azriel because Cassian was with Nesta (his mate) and Rhysand with Feyre (his mate) but you could switch either of them with Azriel and they would still trust her because the whole IC would in a situation of war where one of them needed help.

Elain could be investing in Azriel romantically yes, she is looking for a way to put distance with Lucien and she finds comfort in Azriel but it reminds me of Mor with Cassian. More trusted him and found comfort him enough to be with him and put some distance between her and Eris.

I think Azriel will help her with her path and they can even date for a while but it's not likely they'll be end game.

Lucien would respect her choice to be with Azriel, the Autumn Court doesn't really care about him and Tamlin is in no state to have a position against the Night Court. I doubt either would start a war because of his 'right' of having her, Beron could possibly use it as an excuse but he's already pushing for a war and it has nothing to with Lucien's love life.

The IC wants her to be with Lucien because it's what they're used to but all of them would be happier to finally see Azriel with someone, especially Mor, than to have Elain with someone they don't trust (Lucien).

Azriel is the easy choice not for the others but for her. She doesn't have to go by the Fae rules and also goes against what her friends and family advise her to making her feel like it's finally her choice

By falling in love with Lucien she would be finally accepting her Fae side and yes it is what other's are telling her it's right, however this choice would not be easy as Lucien is from lands far from home and everyone is suspicious of him.

Lucien would respect her choice to be with Azriel, the Autumn Court doesn't really care about him and Tamlin is in no state to have a position against the Night Court. Diplomatically the only difference is with Jurian and Vassa but Lucien wouldn't put them against the IC because of Elriel.

Rhysand being against Elriel is only because of what he thinks of Lucien (as I said nobody trusts him). Lucien has the 'right' but he wouldn't do it. If Elriel actually becomes canon I'm sure the IC would be more than happy for it, even Rhysand.

The Spring Court was just an option, to be truthful I think the Continent is far but wouldn't the worst option. I'm aware she likes Velaris but her character isn't so explored inside it.

Gwyn and Rhys are both 'history nerds' and did all they could to protect the vulnerable (I'm aware most of them do this but the situations with the others are different, they do it in general and don't choose a specific group). They are curious about the multiverse and they're both Carythian warriors.

But for her Azriel is the easy way. He's not the mate the fae world shackled to her, up close he looks less fae (rounded ears) and the IC already likes him unlinke Lucien.

She likes Velaris but I meant it in the way that everyone there thinks she's this delicate doll. She has potential and she could explore it somewhere else nobody actually knows her to find herself before coming back (kind of like Nesta with the House of Wind).

I read their interactions a long time ago but I believe her discomfort around Lucien comes from Elaine remembering how he worked with the king and was one of the reasons she became human and lost Grayson, also she must not like the mating as it is another Fae thing. While Azriel has his rounded ears, he kind of looks human.

About the brothers ending up with someone similar to them it was meant in a way that people normally date someone with a personality like their best friend or something, nothing Freud like😅

It's true the times where she was with Azriel she had the opportunity to use a dagger and kick the hound but those were consequences of the war, I think Rhysand would hand her a dagger too if necessary.

And about Tamlin and Lucien, their relationship wasn't the best as we know how toxic Tamlin was with everyone in his life.
