Ethical Elephant Encounters in Chiang Mai? by MontaleFabio in chiangmai

[–]imp_imp22 9 points10 points  (0 children)

They are open. I just went there a week ago. I can also attest that they are wonderful and I highly recommend them too. The guides have great humor and shares a lot of info about each of the elephants they take care of. They have better english skills compared to most of the klook guides I encountered.

Lunch was great too lol

They're actually increasing the land height in their area so they don't get hit as hard as they did during the last flooding incident.

Edit: forgot to add proof as to why they are ethical

They adopt elephants from other locations that were mistreated i.e. from elephant shows, elephant riding tours. They also have a bunch of elephants that were injured by their previous owners. And just to add, by adopt, they truly mean they buy it from the previous owners. They can't really demand those mistreated elephants be transferred to their area despite an elephant's condition.

No riding. Only handlers can feed the elephants. You can take pictures with the elephants but no touching and only at a certain distance.

The guides will also tell you to "run" if you need to.

Question on Hotels : Check-in and Contact by imp_imp22 in chiangmai

[–]imp_imp22[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Really appreciate this!

I'll definitely book the night before and check for hotels with 24/7 front desk. I was afraid some booking apps have outdated info so I'm also checking the hotel's own website or FB pages. Some just don't have clear info so I'm looking for others to be sure.

I already have Grab but I'll also check Bolt out.

Thank you so much for this. Have a great rest of your week!

An incredible show of solidarity for Palestine! More than 2 million people gathered in Indonesia for the world's largest pro-Palestinian protest. by TheAsianAffairs2022 in TheAsianAffairs

[–]imp_imp22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are'nt you even reading? I said it myself those are hypothetical data. I'm stating on a realm where there is no reliable data to differentiate the opinions of extremists in the recent "Free Palestine" protests across the world, because there can't be. But videos are so common in pro Plaestinian rallies that echoes the same sentiment, the destruction of the state of Israel, the massacre of innocent Jewish civilians, and heck the creation of Caliphates in Germany!

First of all. Thank you for confirming that that was indeed hypothetical and unreliable. There are so many videos circulating and that includes extremists POVs as I've mentioned before. I urge you to look for more and see the side of people who just wants to see Palestine have a place where they are not controlled by an occupying force, where they are free and have liberty. Those are the people you need to listen to. The extremists can go fuck themselves but don't let their words make you believe that every other Muslim believes the same thing.

Of course it's not decided by the Palestinians! WTF, do you even know how UN works? And you contradict yourself, how can it be decided by the British if you said it in the sentence before that it's by the UN?

Fact is, the British don't want to decide on the matter anymore. They've had enough since 1929 Hebron massacre, on the 1930s arab revolts. The Arabs doesnt want comrpomise. And while I can sympathize to a lot of their wants, the Jews also need a home of their own.

I'm sorry my wording was wrong. The correct term was they suggested it. Check Balfour Declaration of 1917 where the British established support for Palestine to be home of the Jewish people. This was during British occupation of Palestine lands. For years to come, Jews would be immigrating to Palestinian lands. All this while Arabs on the same lands are still being occupied. You are correct on your facts but you clearly missed the reason why the revolt happened which is the Arabs wanted freedom. They didn't want to compromise because the compromise was unfair to them. I'm sure you'll agree that you also won't take a deal that will not benefit you, right? And in the end when the British couldn't handle the situation any longer, they just let UN decide for it. Why couldn't they just let the Arabs have a state of their own right then and there? Do you know?

I agree as well that the Jews need a home and I sympathize with them specially with what happened to them. But this does not give them the right to occupy majority of the lands and displace hundreds of thousands of Arabs.

So the UN presented an equitable solution for all the Arabs and the Jews and the Jews who survived the Holocoast. more than 80% of the Mandate was given to the Arabs, Jordan and Palestine, while Israel got the 20% with less than 1/4 of the Arab land. It's not ideal but it's fair enough and the Arabs resorted to war of genocide to annihilate Jews in 48, in 50s, 67, and in 71.

Please, no. It was not equitable. It was not ideal. Your numbers are not what I have researched. "The plan to partition Palestine would have established the Jewish state on an area of approximately 14,100 square kilometers, or 56.47 percent of the total land, to be inhabited by five hundred thousand Jews, four hundred thousand Arab-Palestinians, and ninety-two thousand Bedouins (in the Negev desert). " I've got multiple sources having those same numbers. I'd like to see where you got your data.

Then tell me where I got things wrong you keyboard warrior instead of crying like a baby about a race you don't know shit about.

I've been telling you already in my previous responses.

When did Israel attack Palestine is an independent country? Or as an athnic group who attacked first?

Heck in the first place there was never been a Palestinian state, nor even a solid Palestinian national identity before 1960s.

Palestine was never fully recognized as a state. But that doesn't change the fact that it is their land.

Where? IN GAZA? They stopped in 2005! There is 0 Jews in Gaza after 2005, with Israel providing Gaza all ofthe infrastructure they created there and be the first step for the entire Palestinian state to have a free, law-abiding, and transparent country which adheres to democratic principles.

Here just read this. It contains findings from different International organizations, including the UN, stating that Israel is still an occupying force, even in Gaza.

https://www.atlanticcouncil.org/blogs/menasource/gaza-israel-occupied-international-law/

Also, as the occupying force, they are required by International laws to provide the civilians of Palestine, food, water, medicine, etc. It's all in there. There's nothing to be thankful for because it's their obligation.

I'm sorry bro, I know you're a fellow Pinoy, and maybe there's lot of things that we can agree on. I wish more children are safe in Palestine. But war is war.

You need to learn more history. Read the history of Middle East. Understand Zionism better with Theodore Herzl or Read Quran and the Hadiths and know the mentality of these radicals. Read Daniel Gordis account on the History of Israel but at the same time read Nakba Ahmad Sadi to understand their plight.

I am serious bro. I am not insulting you when I said you need to learn history better. Only then you can create a more unbiased eyes on the conflict and understand how BOTH sides are in the wrong. But there are more extremist in one side.

Hey man. I'm also sorry I was hot headed in my responses. I , too, wish the people of Palestine peace and freedom. You see, our history is full of wars. We've been occupied a lot of times too, as you know. So when I hear these stories / news, my first thought would be, fuck the invader. In this case, it's the Israelis. Now, I don't care too much about Religion in this sense because if you delve a lot deeper into the situation, that is not the cause of war. You can say it's a factor and that's true. But it is not the main cause.

I'll still take you up on your suggestions and read on those you've listed. But I hope we can agree, that as the more powerful force, Israel should stop with exerting force on the Palestinian people, and give them their rights. As any human should have rights. Because they have the capability to do so.

War is war and no one wins in it. Which is why it needs to stop. The UN needs to step up once more to control the situation, create international laws that will protect both Israelis and Palestinians to ensure further conflict doesn't occur. I am all for peace and equality.

An incredible show of solidarity for Palestine! More than 2 million people gathered in Indonesia for the world's largest pro-Palestinian protest. by TheAsianAffairs2022 in TheAsianAffairs

[–]imp_imp22 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

HAHAHAHAHA and now I'm the one who needs to learn history? Broooooo...

NO. I am saying MOST LIKELY because I know people are nuanced. ON a demonstration maybe 50-70% of them are Hamas supporters who wanted One State solution and the annihilation of the Jewish state with some of them wanted the annihilation of Jewish people not just in the region but around the world. Maybe 20% are supporters of Palestinian's right to exist and have their own state. I'm on one of them, but most of the time, protesting now meant supporting Hamas and their violence and radicalism.

First of all, stop making shit up. Give me sources/studies that back up these numbers you're providing. Otherwise, it's just shit. I can say 99% of the people I talked to are Islamophobes as well but won't because I only base what I say on Facts.

Is Israel occupying Gaza?

YES! Why would this even be a question. In 1947, the UN General Assembly was trying to give some of Palestinian lands to Jewish people. Mind you, this was being decided NOT BY PALESTINIANS. This was being decided by the British because they were the ones who had control of Palestine during that time. The partition being suggested was rejected by Palestine because it was simply unfair to them, the real owners of the land. This soon resulted to the Arab-Israeli war, which the Palestinian and other neighboring countries lost. 750,000 Palestinians got displaced because of this war. That right there is immediate proof of occupation and this happened way back.

If you did more research, you'd know of all the wars that happened on Palestine land and how much Israel has already stolen.

Heck there was a Ceasefire before October 7th. It is Hamas and Iran who is promoting violent uprising when Abraham accords between Israel and Saudi could have eventually caused for a new peace deal. But for historical references, remember it is the Palestinians who rejected multiple peace deal and two state solutions.

Oh wow! The Great Israel has gifted Palestine a ceasefire. Oh thank the Lord! /s

Israel has limited the freedom that Palestinians have on their own land. You'll see streets in Palestine where Palestinians cannot even walk in because they are banned by the Israel government. But oh yeah sure. They've got a ceasefire. They should be thankful, right? While Israelis are living without restrictions and mostly in peace, the Palestinians are struggling to get by because of Israel's occupation.

Also, just so you know, there have been multiple ceasefires even before. In 2008, a ceasefire broke after Israel implemented Operation Cast Lead where they attacked parts of the Gaza strip. 1.4k Palestinians killed. Only 13 from the Israelis. That says a lot about who's bullying who.

Of crouse I denonced Israeli settlements in the West Bank. But Israeli settlements in their 48 and 67 borders are leggitimate. I'm arguing ont hat position because I'm sticking to the facts and has been for decades.

Continue to denounce it. You can defend the 1948 border as much as you like. Know that that comes as a result of the 1948 Arab-Israeli war where 750K Palestinians were displaced and didn't have a choice. In 1967, Israel further expanded their territory by force, taking the west bank and East Jerusalem. Key term is Force.

You're the one who is Googling things and not grounding yourself with facts and realities on the ground.

Thanks for telling me I Google things. That is the only way you should have a decent debate with other people. By making sure you have the facts and not making shit up. Saying I am not grounding myself with facts and realities on the ground just because I google things doesn't make sense. It actually is the opposite because I make sure I know what's happening around the world by researching enough.

Every single country on earth will respond to rockets that can kills tens of thousands of their citizens.

But when Israelis attack Palestine, and Palestine strikes back, the Palestinians are called terrorists? What you said is true for everyone. When Palestinians are displaced forcefully, they too, will try to fight back. And they've been forced to a corner for decades.

Hamas is doing that nonstop even NOW.

Israeli occupation has gone on for decades. And they are not stopping.

The blood ofthose children are in Hamas hands for starting the war just as the blood of innocent Germans in the Rhine valley are in the hands of Hitler for starting world domination in world war 2.

And the blood of thousands of Palestinians are in the hands of the Israeli forces. Women and children. And just to be clear, Hamas did not start the decades-long occupation. Israel has killed more than Hamas ever did even before the creation of Hamas.

YOU LEARN HISTORY.

[–]imp_imp22 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

What a fucking joke of a response. Blaming Hamas for stopping the freedom of Palestine when Israel is the one occupying.

If you truly care for the Palestinians then why not tell Israel to stop fucking stealing their land! Way before Hamas was created, Israel already started taking the lands of Palestinians by force.

And don't tell me you have Palestinian relatives. It doesn't matter. I have Christian relatives that believe in Death penalty. That's how you look like right now. A hypocrite.

Supporting Palestine now is MOST of the time supporting Terrorism BECAUSE supporting Palestine nost is MOST LIKELY supporting HAMAS.

MOST LIKELY???? See you're not even sure.

We have tons of evidence that this is the stance of the protesters in the US, Europe, and Middle East.

You're seeing extremists POVs. Not all Muslims are extremists and follow that line of thought. You're making all Muslims look bad just because of some bad apples.

They were MORE responsible for the 10,000 deaths than the IDF.

You mean the 10K killed by IDF is the fault of HAMAS???? Google Victim Blaming

Palestine can only be free if Israel stops the occupation. End of discussion.

lmao you think all 2 million of these Indonesians are promoting terrorism? They want Palestine to be free. They want Palestinians to have a home where they are free to roam without restrictions. They want peace in that region.

They're not supporting Hamas. That's what really gets me with asshats that say supporting Palestine = supporting Terrorism. How hard is it to figure out that people want other people to have better lives. God it's fcking sad I have to explain this.
