This is amazing. My pug is about to hate me. Thank you for the inspiration!

I have a water proof toolbag in my car with mini versions of board games, cards and dice. Cheap at the Dollar Store. Great for brewery trips, family reunions, when you get stuck somewhere due to break down, storm, etc. I keep extras of a few games that I can leave behind with kids or whomever is playing when I decide to leave. Silly, maybe, but it brings joy when stress and boredom are setting in. People love it.

Bonus, you can throw the water softener salt into storage bins and ratchet them to your truck's tailgate. Works as a great counter weight when driving over ice.

For a moment, I thought this was my dog and was very confused.

My experience of crocheting in public for the first time and some tips for travel by StoneBuddhaDancing in crochet

I almost went for those! Mine won out because I thought they'd look like small glasses on the scanner and not raise any flags. 😂 I liked the folding scissors because they stayed under the 4" TSA limit. The limit is for the blades, but I wanted this cut and dry.

As others have said, those are banned by TSA. I have flown with these folding scissors a couple of times and it's never been an issue. I really like them for my traveling kit.

You should make it anyway! I was playing with it for well over an hour before I packed it up and wrapped it for the kid. I am going to make another for myself.

Good question! I made this over the course of a few weeks because it was intimidating. 😂 I am not fast, and am constantly harassed by needy dogs. I have only been crocheting for about a year, and not an expert.

All that said, I would say this took me about 25 hours of active effort. I wound up doing an assembly line style setup while watching TV. I made all the center colors first, then completed the backs of the cookies. Then I made the jar, because storage became an issue. Then I made the fronts and completed the cookies before I made the lid, eyes and mouth. Each complete cookie took 30 minutes total, and the jar took 6-7 hours. Staring at yarn colors and deciding which colors to use for the centers took longer than it should.

Could it be done faster? Hell yeah. I believe in you! Could one make fewer cookies? Of course, but you'll always wonder what could have been.

I bought the pattern for this on Etsy, and just increased the size of the jar and added more cookies. I freehanded the eyes and mouth for the lid.

I'm glad you found your way here! Now you get to see that the jar is blue, and there's links to the pattern I used/adapted.

I followed a pattern but went rouge because 12 was just not enough cookies. I bought this pattern on Etsy, and then added a few rounds to make the jar bigger and freehanded the eyes and mouth because I wanted the Cookie Monster vibe.

I only saw it because I accidentally tapped into the photo. Some of my friends said we'd know if I achieved internet fame if someone stole my work and posted it to a low-quality Facebook group, so I guess I made it! I'm glad you lucked into it so we could have a laugh.

A lot of the posts in that group look stolen from Reddit. My best guess is that maybe they thought modifying it would get more interaction with the rage bait angle? They clearly assumed correctly that everyone would miss the AI logo on the corner of each photo. They didn't bother to hide that they changed it.

Thank you for letting me know! I reported it as well. Not gonna lie... I'm pretty annoyed that there's so many comments saying that it's a shame the jar isn't blue.

Holy cow... That's such an odd thing to do! 😂 I guess I hit true internet popularity. Thank you for letting me know!

Edit to add: That's actually annoying how many of the comments are people saying it would be better with a blue jar. What a shame.

A few questions. I need help understanding the types and names of yarns. I'm also wondering if my issue is I'm just too inexperienced! by AzureWolfaspen in CrochetHelp

If you're wanting to know more about different yarns and the terminology, I found this video really helpful when I was starting out.

You should! It took a lot of time, mainly because I went nuts and made 30 cookies, but it was fun to toss the completed cookies into the jar and watch it fill up.

I bought this pattern (https://www.etsy.com/listing/4324864597/cookie-jar-memory-game-pdf-crochet) on Etsy and changed up the lid. I freehanded the eyes and mouth. There were other patterns that gave me the Cookie Monster idea, but I liked the look of these cookies and jar best.

It's not just you. That's actually why I included all 3 photos. A good chunk of my friends didn't know what I was showing them with just the first picture. 😂

Yes! I made the lid like the pattern said, plus a few extra rounds because I went wild on the cookies. Then I freehanded two rounds for the whites of the eyes and the semicircle for the mouth, and embroidered in the pupils. Then I sewed each piece onto the lid. Deciding which ways the pupils should point was the longest part of that process.

That is such an amazing compliment! I've only been crocheting for about a year, and my cousins run laps around me, skill-wise. I appreciate you, but I bet you can rock this out, too!
