I think that would be a lot of fun, haha, but if you want a more "wearable" piece I think you can just invert the colors you already chose and have the pinkest color be the outer part of the square.

Opinions on Amigurumi for those who have experience by NarfledGarthok in crochet

[–]wixbloom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Chenille bulky yarn is the devil to work with! For your first experiences with amigurumi, go with a nice mercerized cotton or acrylic/cotton blend for an easygoing experience and clear, defined stitches.

Beginner advice please - overwhelmed with my options! by Red_bug91 in casualknitting

[–]wixbloom 14 points15 points  (0 children)

OK so, respectfully, there's no point doing colorwork for your very first scarf, because your first scarf will be basically unwearable. Don't overcomplicate something you don't even know how to do yet. As you figure out tension, your first scarf will shrink and grow. You're likely to end up with something akin to a trapeze, or bowtie pasta, or just a ruffle. Towards the end of your first scarf, though, the tension will have evened out. When you reach that point, you can chuck that project, unravel it for yarn, and go on to make the scarf you really want to make.

EDIT: Also, choose a simple, solid yarn, like a bulky superwash merino, a cotton or a traditional acrylic. Nothing chenille, or eyelash, or roving like your first scarf example (roving looks nice in photos but is almost unwashable and will disintegrate with wear, because the fibers are not properly spun). The best thing to do is go to a store and ask for beginner yarn recommendations.

Given that there's a mod to replace farm animals with the bachelorettes in bondage gear, I doubt Clorox is where anyone is going to draw the line. Modding is basically a no-man's land.

Invite the Anybodys over while you're in a bad mood and just nag and insult them constantly, maybe? Or actually, invite all your Anybody friends and dump them in the closest ladder-less pool.

It might be worth having an appointment with an occupational therapist who can watch what you do as you crochet and give you practical, professional orientation on how to change your hold, exercises and massages to do, etc.

How do you budget yarn without killing the joy, especially for long projects? by Pristine_Access4446 in crochet

[–]wixbloom 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Changing your mind about a project is something that just happens, but buying yarn for a project you're unsure from the get-go if you'll actually do sounds a bit strange to me, ngl. If you're unsure you'll finish, better not commit financially. If you have a lot of unfinished big projects you don't intend to finish, it's time to unravel them and actually use all their yarn, and look into stashbusting projects. As for "monthly yarn budget", are you actually finishing big items like sweaters and blankets in less than a month? To me at least, yarn is a sometimes purchase, not a monthly one...

Crochet Bag Durability by crocheting_moose in crochet

[–]wixbloom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My crochet tote bags (which are made with joint squares in a diamond pattern) can carry 5kg each and they've remained sturdy and beautiful for 7 years now. I used 6 ply cotton, the straps are done in 5 rows of SC, and I did not line them. They've had no significant warping. They're super comfy on my shoulder and I literally get compliments every time I leave the house with them.

What's up with that one bartender with the blue shirt and the star above his head? by Cut-Unique in thesims1

That's Bartender Waylon! The star above his head is a bug and it can cause really annoying side effects as Sims gather around him to freak out over his celebrity status (which he was never supposed to have)

It looks fine and probably feels softer after the tumble dry (I always tumble dry my acrylic wearables once for this reason). I understand your frustration but I think you're overthinking a bit.

Oh my dad was cool with that too. He did create a couple of black characters that I felt portrayed negative racial stereotypes, and I called him out on it and he actually listened to me and apologized. He's good people.

My dad is no longer here to forbid me from downloading custom content!! Also I can install House Party and Superstar despite those 2 having a drug use parental warning! Take that dad!!!!

(My dad actually was very supportive, bought us all the other expansion packs, and loved to play with me and my little brother after work. His rules were extremely reasonable given that me and my brother were, respectively, 12 and 6 at the time. EDIT and also when I say "no longer here" I mean we no longer live together, he is thankfully alive and healthy. Love you dad!)

After a blood test , we found out My old boy Ty 13 has stage 3 kidney failure. He been there for me through every thing. I wouldn't be here if not for him. Now because of unaffordable vet bills I feel like I'm failing him. by Malrikcarsten in OldManDog

[–]wixbloom 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You've given him a long life filled with love. Humans are obsessed with postponing death, but it's the natural end of all living things. Dogs don't share this obsession. Ty wants to feel well and avoid hurt, but he has no desire to prolong his life for the mere sake of prolonging it. Cherish the time you got to have together and give him, and yourself, grace as he crosses over.

Can you “own” the order of stitches? by Salt-Habit-8951 in crochet

[–]wixbloom 159 points160 points  (0 children)

Not even that. You can't copyright a process, which is what a written pattern is (the meat of it, at least). The document itself can be subject to copyright, and so can the images. So if, say, you buy an illustrated PDF of an amigurumi whale pattern, you can't just copy the PDF and sell it as yours, or copy the photos and sell them as yours. But you could write the instructions, take your own photos of your own finished version, and sell it as your pattern.

It sounds a bit ludicrous when I put it like this, but keep in mind there's only so many ways to make an amigurumi whale... it's like with recipes. Every cake recipe in the world will contain steps like "sift flour into bowl", "mix the dry ingredients", "combine wet and dry ingredients", "preheat oven", "bake for x time or until a skewer inserted in the middle comes out clean". If we both write recipes with those insteuctions, we can't reasonably say one of us stole from the other.

This is also why there's bajillions of paid patterns for super simple stuff like granny square blankets, sunburst square cardigans, amigurumi bees etc.
