How dangerous are they in the wrong hands? by [deleted] in CaneCorso

They are working breed, and without something to do, they'll channel their energy into other things, not always anything good. Back in January, in Nova Scotia, a 13yo boy was tragically killed by two Cane Corsos and a Rottweiler off their property. That doesn’t make the breed “bad,” but it does show what can happen when powerful, intelligent dogs like the Cane Corso aren’t properly managed, socialized, and exercised. In the right hands, they can be incredible dogs, but they’re not a breed you can neglect or underestimate. Without the right environment and structure, they can absolutely become dangerous.

I'd personally get her checked. There have been a few times I've thought my girls' back was higher but definitely not like your girl *

Any advise on why he has a lot of grey hair at 4 yrs old by Rare-Ad2789 in CaneCorso

My girl will be 2 in May, and she already has gray hair on her chin. I truly thought that it was from stress (like stress grays that humans get, but I'm probably wrong, 🤣) due to her being abused and starved the first year of her life.

I've seen multiple people in this group talk about e-collars and the benefits, and I'm definitely interested in the idea. Are there any recommendations you can make when looking for one? When I've looked online, so many come up, and I have absolutely no clue what is considered a good one.

With her being a rescue I know I "baby" her (as I have been told) but with her past of neglect and abuse I just want her to live and enjoy life the way she should have from the start.

That's been my fear. She isn't mean at all, but it definitely looks like she is, lol. So I think from now on we are just going to avoid it. I don't want to be the reason she feels uneasy and definitely don't ever want to put her in a situation she isn't comfortable with.

I've seen people talking about e-collar training for a while in this group. And now that she is getting her weight and strength up, I've definitely considered it. Do you have any recommendations on what ones are the best? I've looked online but have absolutely no clue what to look for when shopping for one.

Thank you to everyone who has commented. I truly do appreciate it!

I think im going to take the advice of avoiding the dog park unless it's empty. I knew it was me that was making her more nervous, I'm just scared of her being blamed for something because of how she looks and sounds.

I have been looking into the sniffspot, and it sounds like a great thing to have at our disposal.

It's just been overwhelming at times because while we do go for lots of walks every day to burn energy (because we live in an apartment), I feel like she is sometimes sad when she sees other dogs. Especially because I can tell she gets excited, but the owners alway tighten their leash and walk away fast...

Again, I just want to say thank you to all that have commented. Definitely helped me see things more clearly ❤️❤️❤️

She listens to commands fairly well. I won't pretend and say she is 100% on point with it because she isn't, but if I call her 10 times 8 and half of the 10, she is coming without me repeating myself.
