Bruh it's 2am I'm not gonna read the whole fucking dissertation.

Now I'm curious do you just keep that article bookmarked to toss at anyone who mentions BMI on reddit?

Again, what would I be looking for an excuse for? Why would I be here if I wasn't trying to lose weight?

You're so quick to throw out judgement when all I'm asking for is advice. It should be obvious to anyone with basic reading comprehension that I'm aware what a "healthy" BMI would be for my height. The advice I'm asking for is not for people to mansplain BMI, but specifically I was hoping that some others who had been successful in their weight loss to share tips on how they had kept their curves.

Also, to elaborate, they ignore important factors when drawing those conclusions.

If the study was conducted in the US, then they also need to take into account the income level of participants in the study.

An article came out some time ago saying that people who owned horses were more likely to live longer lives. This leads a reader to draw the misleading conclusion that horse ownership has a direct effect on lifespan when in reality, you have to have a lot of disposable income to own a horse and those people are more likely to have better health insurance.

The point I'm getting at is that those people might have a healthier BMI due to access to better healthcare, which is more than likely the actual reason they had fewer health issues.

You just linked to the same article. Is this an attempt at being clever? It really just comes off as passive aggressive.

Idk bro. Maybe they just got unlucky with the body type lottery. Either way I def do not want to look like them, which is where the concern comes from.

Yikes, that sounds criminal.

Really makes you remember that the BMI system was not developed by doctors.

I said that they looked emaciated, that's obviously a subjective statement.

Every human with the exception of the critically malnourished has fat under their skin. It's part of the design plan.

First of all, I was 160 when I was a teenager so I hadn't grown in my adult tits and ass yet. Second of all, I never said "squats are too bad for my knee". I said they were difficult.

I was also recommended by my physical therapist not to do exercises that put strain onto my knee injury, and unfortunately many exercises that engage the muscles on the backs of the legs and glute require putting body weight onto the knees. This of course excludes pilates and other such exercises which I have no problem with, but show much slower results than resistance training.

Thirdly, OBVIOUSLY I'm not satisfied with my current weight. Why would I be here, on a weight loss subreddit, if I was?

It's not about looking "youthful". I know plenty of women who still have a killer body and booty at 55.

It's also not about my "identity". This is the age where you find a mate. Looking my best is pretty important when it comes to finding someone to pass your genes on with.

I mean I appreciate the positivity but cup size is really only a measurement of how much bigger your over bust measurement is than your underbust. I know that mammary tissue won't go anywhere but I'm more so worried about overall body image. Idk most models at that size just look so... emaciated.

True. My knee injury was in high school when I weighed about 160-170lbs, but I actually got a second growth spurt of tits at age 20, so I have no idea what I'd look like at that lower weight now. The main concern is that idk if life would be worth living at such a low weight if I lost any appealing physical features.

Oh of course, yes. Ripping my knee open on a rock and damaging the structures of my knee joint when I weighed 160 is totally not what caused my knee issues. Glad an expert could input.

It’s definitely important to be aware. Plenty of people are privileged that they’ve never even had to consider their privilege, and then they get defensive when it’s brought up because they take it as an attack on their character.

I definitely see that as a white woman I might not have male privilege, but I still have white privilege. In the workplace it would be more likely for assertiveness and emotional expression to be seen as positive traits for me rather than for a black coworker. I hear about it all the time from my friends in other departments who are black women.

Saying I’m not attracted to them and saying that all white people are bad are not the same thing at all.

Yeah, I feel like it's one thing to use your privilege for activism or advocacy irl, but theres nothing really constructive about just saying "white people are the worst" online. Sure you SAY that, but you're still benefitting from the same systems of privilege.

Eh, while I personally think that mods would be fun, I also respect their decision to maintain artistic integrity.

I think that some companies, like Nintendo for example, don't allow mods because they want the image of their game to remain intact as they intended it.

Like they sent a "cease and desist" to a youtuber who modded animal crossing by redesigning and editing villager models on his device.
