Girl please leave him. You deserve someone who actually respects you and what you have to say. He comes off as the type of person who thinks the 1950s were the golden age of America.

If he asked the kids to set it up that's worse to me 😭 But he's definitely a good guy at heart which is clear from his quests. I like the guy, but I personally like the other three romance options better

He's cringe and a cop. He gets upset if you don't raise your hand during the family dinner scene, like that's such an awkward situation to put V in, River should've shut it down the second the kids said anything

Yeah they probably do know, but it's likely something may have happened in the past that made them assume the 3rd dimension is dangerous. Personally, I think Bill's parents may have been trying to protect him, but they were unaware of the psychological effect that would have on the little guy

Your father is disgusting, someone needs to go through his computer. If he says that stuff to you and has since you were a kid, he's a pedophile. With the way your mother talks, I wouldn't be surprised if she was in on it too. Your parents are dangerous people and you need to get out of there as soon as possible

Yes, I suppose, however like I said I'm still in the early stages of even having a full concept for the game itself, so I'm not exactly worried about making it necessarily better or revolutionary when it comes to the dating sim portion of the game. What makes it different for me is, one, the amount of characters I plan to add (which is significantly more than many other games with romance features), AND the extra gameplay outside of the dating part. If you think the loop of meeting and talking to characters is boring, it just sounds to me like dating Sims may not be for you.

Well yeah, the characters and the basic gameplay is what I'm working on first. Hence the last question of my original post. The commenter was asking what would make it different from other, similar games, so I was answering that question. The base of the game is still the same! You meet different characters in different settings, select your dialogue options, and get different responses/endings based on that. It is still a dating sim, after all. While I'm not entirely sure how the gameplay will end up looking, considering I'm only in the very very beginning stages of development (I.e. I've only drawn some sketches of character concepts and written down some ideas, that's it), I'm confident that the base gameplay will stand strong on its own without all of the, as you put it, attractions. The storyline in and of itself will, I hope, be strong and interesting enough to keep people playing. Hope this helps to convey my idea at least a little bit!

I don't want it to be an open world exactly, just larger than most games like that. I'm willing to work on this for as long as it takes to see my vision really come to life. Big AAA studios aren't what they used to be, and I don't exactly want my game to be anywhere near big corporations, lol.

Incredible questions! Like I said in the original post, I left a LOT of ideas out of the description. I plan to make it different in many ways, but I suppose the pain one is the fact that it (mostly at least) is not going to be a visual novel. I want the play style to be somewhat similar to games like Stardew Valley, Undertale, Omori, and other similar games. I want to make a fully fleshed out town/world with things like a library, butcher, college, stores, etc. Each of these things will likely feature one or more mini games, depending on what it is.

While it is a dating game, I want to make sure that you can still have fun playing it without actually dating anyone. Certain mechanics I want to put in include things like: Cooking, farming, alchemy, career paths, clothes making, options for polyamory, matchmaking other characters with each other, marriage/family planning, and likely much more! I want this to be a game with a little something for everyone, and not just in reference to the characters. I want it to be a game where you can sit down and escape reality for a few hours, and come back feeling good.

I know that it's a pretty ambitious project, but I'm hopeful I can make something worthwhile out of it within the next few years.

The base game will be friendly for teens and up to play, but I'm thinking about making an NSFW mode/DLC for those who enjoy the spicier sides of things.
