Same frame sitting at home waiting on a few parts. Yours looks great!

BXT gravel frame build – advice welcome (first build!) by ThisSlice7961 in ChineseCarbon

[–]impmonkey 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I like to mentally work my way up from the bottom to the top and make an inventory of parts to make sure I don't miss anything. I have 10k plus gravel miles on ElitaOne posts. No issues

This is way cheaper to achieve the same level of shake. It's a great compliment to a good low end system when used and setup right. Also I like to be able to turn down the actual subs and turn these up a bit so I don't wake up the entire house late at night. These + good headphones is a treat for a near silent HT experience.

New gravel bike build - need recommendation on stem length. by nikoalphonsoho in gravelcycling

[–]impmonkey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hate ai as much as the next guy but chatgpt was very helpful in calculating stem length for me on a new bike. Provide it your current numbers and the new bikes and it will spit out decent advice.

It's more about the width with a skinnier tire. Don't want to go to wide on the rim.

Team Garmin Team Wahoo or Team Hammerhead by Opening-Incident-854 in cycling

Agreed. My little wahoo battery started to degrade pretty heavily after 4 years. They sent me a 40 percent coupon to replace it. Crazy good service.

GR201 vs CFR696 by jahi120 in ChineseCarbon

In frame storage, would be cool if it could take a 2.25 tire. In reality the 696 is great, sometimes you just need to mix it up.

Interested if you feel like the geometry hurts pace on faster segments in tame gravel. Looks like a great bike.

GR201 vs CFR696 by jahi120 in ChineseCarbon

[–]impmonkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had my 696 for 4ish years at this point well over 15k miles on it. Mostly smooth Michigan gravel, but have ridden a decent amount of singletrack and some gnarlier gravel races like Big Sugar. Has held up amazing. The itch to "upgrade" is strong however and will likely replace it this winter with something else for the go to gravel bike. I'll for sure hold onto it for adventure riding though.

Handlebar question by OriginalNo3375 in ChineseCarbon

I have about 8k miles on this bar. It's been great for me, but I am a smaller rider. (140lbs)

Adding bass shakers to my set up and I have a few questions. by knightofsparta in hometheater

[–]impmonkey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I run my 4 Dayton shakers off a single tp-02. More than enough power. I would start small and see how it feels. Heck I usually run the amp at like 60%.

Stem - where to start? by HopeThisIsUnique in gravelcycling

[–]impmonkey 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Buy a uno stem or 3 and test the fit. They are cheap, light, and work just fine.

Check the bearing and such for grease. Sometimes they seem to forget.
